Wow! What a speed increase. My primary PC took 3-4 seconds to load Firefox after a cold load and 5-6 seconds on my backup PC. Installed the preloader and now it takes 1.2 seconds to load on my primary PC and 1.1 on my backup PC.
Great work.

That's what I need! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great! It's start not so fast as others browsers, but much faster than it was. Thanks a lot.

P.S. I had a little conflict with add-on "Менеджер сессий" which save and manage user's session. So at start it opened the dialog to recover session. It's not good I suppose, but I've found how to automaticaly select the preveous session. So, better it will recover session than browser will start in 2 times longer :)

It starts, then it disappears Rated 2 out of 5 stars

UPDATE:

I had the idea to run "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\\firefox.exe -preloader" from the console, and the following is what resulted: INCLUDE ScriptlessBGThumbs: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsIXPCComponents_Utils.import]" nsresult: "0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://noscript/content/ScriptlessBGThumbs.js :: TOP_LEVEL :: line 3" data: no] undefined Failed to find nss3 in installed directory, checking system paths.

Optimize the preloader Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Perfect. I changed it to "Run minimized" and added -silent to the command line: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe -preloader -silent
Now Users do not see anything when the computer starts and are just amazed how fast Firefox loads.

:)

Muito bom Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Só uma observação em Windows 64bits ficaria assim:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe -preloader

This add-on does what it says. Well done by the developer.

Super! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Nice work! I do like such addons that increase startup time or perfomance. Is there similar addon for thunderbird?

Windows 8, Firefox 26

works great with linux

startup-time reduced from 7.5 sec to 3.8 sec (both after a fresh start)

using firefox 25.0-1 and linux 3.12.0-1

It works for me on Linux: FF 22 running on Slackware 13.1. I use the XFCE desktop and all I had to do was add it to the autostart list in Settings > Sessions and Startup. It does what I wanted and doesn't seem to interfere with anything. It's a good plugin.

Not working Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It is not working with firefox version later 13.0. After the addon was installed and after making the target field changes, the firefox is not loading at all.

Hello! How to enable it for linux (Debian)? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Is there a way to use it with firefox / iceweasel on linux?

funktioniert nicht mit aktueller Version

An excellent add-on! FF loads noticeably faster here on my Win 7 netbook.

I don't know what problem the one-star reviewer had... Did he remember to do the 2nd part of the installation, as described above? It's worth the effort.

Works even with Portable Firefox Versions Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It works even with the portable version I'm using (like this: "...\FirefoxPortable.exe -preloader"). Improved start up speed is quite noticeable, perhaps twice as fast (or perhaps even only a third of the previous start-up time) with the about 50 add-ons I'm using. For me this add-on is definitely a keeper. Thanks!

Great Addon. One question - does it work on multiple Firefox profiles if installed in just one?

It needs to be installed on each profile, otherwise the command-line argument wouldn't be available.

The speed-up is quite noticeable if you have many addons installed.
