Latest version keeps warning to make a backup everytime Firefox is opened, even if last scheduled backup was made. Had to disable the warnings. Please fix it.

Latest version won't save bookmarks whether json or html. Not sure why. Resetting preferences didn't help. Running FIrefox 28. Might have to revert back to older version. Other than that, this is a solid add-on. Sort of like the Ninite for Firefox.

Great!

Here's how to close the Error Console... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For those reporting that they can't close the Error Console, it took me a bit to figure out, but do this. Open FEBE Options. Click on the Advanced Tab. Click the Miscellaneous sub-tab. Uncheck "FEBE Debug Mode". Excellent Add-on!

REPLY TO AUTHOR - Thanks Chuck. Actually I was so shocked when this happened. I thought it was caused by another extension that I had installed called Console² 0.9. The screen looked very similar except it usually opens in its own box. I quickly closed the FEBE Welcome tab because I thought something was going on with that extension and I immediately disabled it. When that didn't fix it, I uninstalled it, but alas, it was still there even after restarting Firefox. Then that's when it hit me - it must be FEBE because it was the most recently updated add-on and just presented the Welcome page. So I poked around in the options and found the Debug box checked. And I didn't realize this was a major update until now. It just automatically updated and few of us endusers follow version numbers that closely. The ironic thing is, I'm usually one of those people that always read the changes in a new version whenever an updated add-on presents a welcome or thanks for updating page. But this time I was so distracted and frustrated by the Error Console and thinking it was another extension, that I immediately closed the tab to see if it would also close the console.

FEBE preferences should be cleared after any major update

Thanks for pointing this out. Another way to resolve this is to clear FEBE preferences.

In fact, on the FEBE Welcome page that is displayed after updating it states "Important: If you are upgrading from a previous FEBE major version or upgrading from a older Firefox version, you should clear your previous settings. Go to Tools > FEBE > FEBE Options > Advanced > Clear FEBE preferences."

This only needs to be done once after any major FEBE upgrade (which this is).

FF error console always open and can't be closed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

FF error console always open and can't be closed. Only disabling FEBE works. FEBE 8.0.4 on FF 24.5.0 ESR. Great addon.

wrong with restore Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It's pretty good at backing up, but restore doesn't work on Mac on FF version 24.0.
Verified with an empty FF profile.

Apart from this, it's not bad.

Why FEBE 8.02 isn't available on addons.mozilla.org?

It is awaiting review

In the meantime, you can install it from the FEBE homepage

Been using FEBE version 8.0,
(available from Author's website),
with Firefox 28. Great!

Today, I upgraded my FF to version 29,
with the totally new AUSTRALIS interface.

My Question to Author
==========
(or anybody who has tested this):
-- does FEBE 8.01 work ok,
(ie: is it 100% compatible)
with Firefox version 29 (Australis),
for both backup / restore?

Or, should we wait for the Author
to test FEBE with FF29 (Australis UI)?

It works great as usual, but i removed a star because of the promotion of scareware.

Wonderful FEBE Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks Chuck for the wonderful FEBE. As others have mentioned, a full profile backup to an XPI file would be a sweet option. Would this be difficult to develop?

Quite good and useful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very useful add-on, and works quite well.

The only things I found to grumble about were:

1) The backup is sometimes incomplete (I usually backup just before closing a session - and there is no safeguard against a session closing before the backup is finished saving - so you have to wait and guess when it is done).

2) Whenever you install FEBE it it loads a welcome page (some people might be fine with this - but if you use it often the page becomes annoying).

3) There is no way of backing up to an installable xpi (yes, someone else has mentioned this - I mention it again because it would be VERY useful - just drag the xpi to a fresh Firefox install, and you're done - no first installing FEBE, then restarting, then creating a new profile, restoring to that profile, and then restarting using that profile).

But despite those (perhaps minor) complaints this is, at the moment, the best Firefox backup extension available.

@JD isn't that what the CLEO add-on is for (by the same developer)?

The best backup addon for Firefox at the moment. Would be nice if it could pack all your addons and settings into a single xpi you could then drag to a new install of Firefox.

I've been using FEBE since you first started it. I want to congratulate you on keeping up with this addon, even when FF has been a royal pain in the arse over the years.

not so good Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Ok, so firefox refused to start with my current profile anymore and I had this regularly created FEBE backup. Just restore the profile and good to go, right?

Hell, no.

After restoring profile I had my extensions and some of them even had their settings. eg. stylish and foxyproxy seem to be working. However

- session lost
- firefox preferences lost
- FEBE settings lost - yeah, soo awesome
- TMP preferences lost
- personas lost
- password hasher settings lost

Next time I will use tar for backups :s

And no, the profile was not corrupted at the time of backup.

The backup does not even contain session data so it obviously cannot be restored, corrupted or not.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (7.3.0.1).

A FEBE restore is only as good as its backup. If you backup a corrupted profile, the restored one will still be corrupted.

Using tar will result in the same thing.
