Major privacy violation - this add-on now "phones home". Rated 1 out of 5 stars

BlockSite used to be a straightforward add-on to block sites. Now, as of the last auto-installed release in July 2013, it "phones home" and collects information about user behavior. There isn't even a privacy policy on the Firefox site. On the developer's web site, "wips.com", we find:

"NOTE: WIPS.COM'S EXTENSION SERVICE COLLECTS AND STORES INFORMATION ABOUT THE WEB PAGES YOU VIEW. IN SOME CASES, INFORMATION COLLECTED BY THE EXTENSION SERVICE MAY BE PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE, BUT PRIVACY IS IMPORTANT AT WIPS.COM, AND WE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ANALYZE WEB USAGE DATA TO DETERMINE THE IDENTITY OF ANY WIPS.COM USER. ...

Wips.com may change any of the terms and conditions contained in this Agreement, including the Privacy Policy and other policies and guidelines governing the Service, at any time in its sole discretion."

This add-on needs to be forced to use a new name, and not auto-installed. Or deleted outright.

You are free to turn it off

Hi,
thank you for your feedback and for taking care about the users privacy policy.
Let me explain everything.
About the data collecting: We are not collecting any sensitive data information, we do not collect the complete user history, just some very specific sites, that are not considered a sensitive, so there should be no worries there.
Also since it is true, that some users might be very angry about this, this is why we have added the opt-in after update and after installation. Which means that we fully inform all our users about this and we give them the option to help us out by their consent. The analytics are turned off by default.

So if you are anyhow worried, you are feel free to turn it off and then none of the privacy policy applied to you because you can use our product for free.

I hope you appreciate it, if you have any more concerns and questions I am open to answer them all if you write it to info@wips.com. Thank you
Have a nice day
