Dictionary data out-of-date Rated 3 out of 5 stars

As stated in the version information, the dictionary data has the version of 24.08.2015 and comes from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/wordlist/files/speller/2015.08.24/.

In other words, this is the SCOWL-supplied "normal size" US English dictionary made available to Mozilla users. It does not contain common variants (like "advisor" instead of "adviser") or accented words (like "Bogotá" or "cliché").

This is not the US English dictionary that ships with the US English version of Firefox.

The add-on version 8 is out-of-date since SCOWL have published a new version on 19.01.2016: http://sourceforge.net/projects/wordlist/files/speller/2016.01.19/.

I think using a dictionary with more words has benefits, so users could give the "large size" dictionary published here a try: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/us-english-dictionary/. This is also up-to-date.

wicked! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

How do I get it to auto fix contractions so that "its" auto corrects into "it's"?

Add Works Great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great help whilst writing English American.
English isn't my native writing, however this tool makes hardly anyone notices.
For me: highly recommended!

This tool works Rated 4 out of 5 stars

For those who could not get this to work; it is used when you write a comment or a review, within a web page. Then you right click and you will see the menu options. there is no icon. You use when you are the typist; not what you are reading. It works as directed.

Nice tool, also works fine with SeaMonkey 2.35 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

For me works fine with DE SeaMonkey 2.35(γ) (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:38.0 nightly by Adrian Kalla) Gecko/20100101 Build 20150615204754 (Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit.
May be it should be shown as "available for SM 2.35"?

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This spell checker is horrible! It comes up with the strangest "spellings" of words not even related to the word I was attempting to spell. Even the leading letter was WRONG!!! I often have to give up & drag out my "Franklin spelling ace" to get the word spelled correctly.

Not working Rated 1 out of 5 stars

United States English no Firefox 36.0.4 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Instalei este complemento no Firefox 36.0.4 sem nenhum problema. Está funcionando perfeitamente bem. A única dificuldade que encontrei foi com o botão instalar, que não está funcionando! Pedi par abrir em Nova Aba e ai, sim, funcionou sem problema.

Not compatible with Android Firefox Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Not compatible with Firefox for Android in version 35 or 36. I would give it 0 stars but that is not possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on! Allows you to check your spelling on sites that don't have their own checker. I simply hit the install button and the thing started working immediately.

Perfect Fix! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I Run LinuxMint 14.04 with Cinnamon twist and couldn't figure out for the life of me why spell check wasn't working. I'm dyslexic so spell check is very useful for me. Glad I found it. I tested it and it works perfectly.

The US-Spellchecker Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I can't load it down!!! Why was it taken away from my Thunderbird?
Why have I now 4 different French spellcheckers?
0 stars for thunderbird!

Works, and well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

WORKS, and and that includes the British version as well.

SOLUTION:
You can't use the [download-button] to add the dictionary file to your programme. Or in my case, a new clean thunderbird (ver 31) install.

Give the developers a break, it does all work, but sometimes you have to work at it to get it right. If the button doesn't work, then right click it and download the file->link to a directory.

Go to the add-ons manager, and select install from file (do it from where you saved that *.xpi file)

Accept all warnings. Restart the programme, and - volar' - you now have your spell-checker installed.

Very useful, and free, and just brilliant.
