Can you please allow the icons to be used on the other toolbars? In firefox 4 the "addon toolbar" is not used, but the site delta update icons can only be shown on there. Please allow those to be shown on other toolbars.

Perfectly suits my needs and stops me from even trying other browsers like Google Chrome. However interface in SiteDelta could be more customizable. For example I would love to be able to disable those notifications on top of the page.

Too many false positives and other issues Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I tested the current version and the beta version from the author's homepage.

Both versions notify about updated pages but most times there are no (visible) changes - nothing gets highlighted. Thus you are unable to exclude those unimportant areas.
The UpdateScanner feature "Ignore changes of less than xx characters" would be helpful here but unfortunately is missing.

SiteDelta still lacks of a "Mark changes as seen for all pages" - button.

If you open a updated page on notification you still need to choose 'Highlight changes' from the status-bar menu what is annoying. Sure, the addon provides an option called 'Highlight changes on page visit' which always works, but sometimes you might want to visit the page without highlighting which is impossible without opening the addon options again.

I tested notification sounds 'Beep' and 'System alert' on a Windows XP machine, both failed with SiteDelta, but are working for other applications. No errors logged in js-console.

Summary:
SiteDelta promises a lot of nice features (especially the include/exclude region options, however I was unable to test them all), but the basic functions still need some work. Until then I am going back to the UpdateScanner addon which currently works best for me.

To the developer: Viel Erfolg!

CAUTION:
If you compare this addon with the UpdateScanner addon you should have one of both disabled!!
Otherwise you get a 'Unresponsive script warning' (SiteDeltaService.js:1040) as soon as you choose 'ShowChangesInNewTab' from UpdateScanner. Most likely caused by UpdateScanner's very large data: URL's which are known to cause such issues.

False positives Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Every time Firefox is started up, it says there are updates but then when you open the websites it says "No changes found".

If you are having the same problem, there is a suggested fix posted below in the comments. I did try that but no luck for me.You can try to set manual watch and ignore regions, see if that helps. If it doesn't, disable other extensions to find any conflicts. The dev does reply to support emails but I found another extension which worked for me before the support process was worked out.

The manual regions is a great feature, give it a try, it may work for you.

Excellent add-on, excellent idea. The execution could be slightly improved, but it is on the right track.

I would love to see a feature to log-in to a page before checking for diffs. For example, log-in to a newspaper site which requires to have an account, or log-in to a webmail page.

The huge request! Make please a possibility to adjust QUANTITY letters which have changed on a site, for their ignoring! For example if has changed less than 50 letters to consider page meanwhile - NOT CHANGED! And still.
I have at a forum above each comment - time is constantly updated writes XX hours, XX minutes - the plug-in considers, what the page has changed, though it has not changed ((whether it is possible to make the filter of ignoring by a word? Here an example - http: // imm.io/PJf

Leider unzureichend Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Email address for support doesn't work. Works okay on some sites, but not on others. For example, I have Site Delta configured to monitor two companies' job openings pages. Every morning when I boot up, Site Delta gives me a pop-up window notification that the pages have changed, but when I go to them, Site Delta's information bar above the page says "No changes found," which is the real case.

What to do against false positives

The support email address should work again, I forgot to transfer it when I changed my mail provider.
To find out why SiteDelta reports false positives for a page, you can select "Mark changes as seen" for the page from the sidebar. When you then visit the page and highlight changes, you will see the changes SiteDelta wanted to notify you about. You can then try to ignore the regions of the page where such false positives occur.

How do we manage (delete entries in) the Backup Versions list? Did not find mention of this on the SiteDelta's schierla website.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.11.1).

Deleting page backups

SiteDelta does not contain any function to manage or delete page backups; you have to delete them manually. The backups are stored in a folder called "SiteDelta" in the user's home directory (e.g. "C:\Users\[Username]\SiteDelta" for Windows 7)

Great addon, using it all the time. I like the option to ignore changed numbers. It would be also nice to ignore if changes are only between singular and plural word forms.

Hi,
your extension is beautiful but I have some problems:
- Your e-mail don't work, server say me: smtp; 550 No such local user, unauthenticated relaying denied
- Region don't work, in error console I find this error " uncaught exception: unknown (can't convert to string)" but I'm not sure it's coming from your extension. However when I click ignore or add region the currently hovered element is outlined but when I click nothing happen.
I try saving page profile and no ignore or control areas are set.
- Keyboard hotkeys not works, can I use some key modifiers as ctrl,alt,shift?
I manage with your code but I don't find a way to control error, can you add debug option in setting gui to handle message in error console? like this:

debug: function(text)
{
var consoleService = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/consoleservice;1"].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIConsoleService);
if (navigator.preference("extensions..debug")
consoleService.logStringMessage(text);
},

Request:
- can you enable adding manual profile and manual ignore and control area setting or something as autopager "guided procedure"?
- can you add support for autopager to control forum multipages?

I hope I will can use your extension because is better the updateScan and support Stylish :)
Thanks,
Rigel

There are two missing improvements.

1. When Checking long text file, scroll height is limited, somehow. The contents of the file, however, continues in one long long line.

Example of long text filte: http://pgl.yoyo.org/as/serverlist.php?showintro=0;hostformat=hosts

2. Too many clicking to set regions.

Although, I prefer this to similar Update Scanner.

Continue developing & fabulous work!

Suggestion Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Like Update Scanner, there should be an option to limit the number of changed characters to be considered "new"
Also, it's better if we can press, say, Up or Down to select a the higher or lower region; Left to select the next region
