After deciding to ditch the bloated and buggy google toolbar, the only thing I found I really missed was search highlighting.
This extension is the best highlighting extension I have tried - love the intuitive focusing too. One request - please please please make available for the latest 3.1b3 release!

A slight problem with the Classic Compact theme makes this add-on a little short then perfect. Even when using the single menu option, the searchbar still gets larger when there are words to search.

Hi,

I am writing to inform you that your add-on "SearchWP", despite a great concept, has severe incompatibility issues with other popular search engine bar add-ons such as "Peers" and "Searchbar Autosizer" and, since "SearchWP" is the one that's arousing most of the issues, I am forced to uninstall it despite the fact I like it. Likely there are many other users that are making such tough choices as well out there.

Perhaps you may want to consider improving your add-on's compatibility with other similar add-ons, starting to investigate from the two add-ons I mentioned above? Granted, the less incompatibilities, the better your add-on would be to the feelings of the users.

Regards,

Gias Kay Lee

Its a nice plugin and I used to use it with Firefox, but now I use Flock and it is just not compatible. It makes the searchbar's pulldown menu of options stop working.
Use at your own risk

great add-on, great! It would be better if you provide feature like "search marker".

Great addon, but breaks page overlay added by XUL/Migemo "highlight all" button in search toolbar

The requirement this meets is so obvious that I am amazed browsers do not unify the concept of search-the-web with search-the-page as a matter of course.
I found the "single menu" (non-default option per the final image above) best because it would sometimes get stuck with the buttons in situ making it difficult to enter a new search term.
However in this mode it would be better to merge the function of the highlighter button with the in-bar icon to save screen real estate.

great add-on but why does it resize the search bar? Couldn't you make the text a little smaller then highlight the words?

For people like me who prefer the old Jump-to-word buttons and cannot wait for the new version: I have a version that fully compatible with FF3 and working very well. It's the latest official beta version (SearchWP 1.1 Beta 2) released before it was changed with the new feature "Jump-to-word-in-the-searchbox" See changelog: http://searchwp.googlecode.com/svn/wiki/VersionHistory.wiki

Download: http://rapidshare.com/files/136958700/searchwp-1.1b2.zip.html OR here: http://uploaded.to/?id=6vf2oq

Note: There are 2 folders: one is the untouched original file. And the another one is the minimal modified version by me, what i did there is just edit em:version 3.0.0.* to 3.* to make it install-able in FF3. That's all. And the good new, No conflict with "Paste and Go" :)

...the Paste&Search command provided by the Extension Paste&Go2 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3035 does not work anymore. Are you able to fix that issue?
