Works great, but not a complete replacement for Google Toolbar Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Since Google officially told Firefox Toolbar users to get bent, I've been looking for an adequate replacement. Sadly, nothing does the job completely right, but Gooblebar Lite handles two important features: Search hilighting and the "go up one level" button.
I realize that this toolbar is intended as a "lite" installation, but just in case others are interested, here are the features of the Google Toolbar that I would love too see (most of which I have been able to set up with a collection of separate add-ins):
- Google Bookmarks toobar button. I currently use the GMarks add-on, which works but whose UI isn't quite as seamless as Google's.
- The sharing button. I currently use Sharaholic to allow quick sharing of links with e-mail and various social network sites.
- The GMail notifier button. I currently use the GMail Watcher add-on for this.
- Auto-completion from Google based on global search history and popular searches. The main Google web site does this. I think the original Google Toolbar did too. I don't think there's any replacement for this functionality.
The other features I like (spell check and popup blocking) are now built-in to Firefox, so they don't matter anymore.
All that aside, Googlebar Lite does a great job at its primary purpose - providing a quick and convenient way to access all the different kinds of Google Search facilities.

How to Enable Google Toolbar in Firefox 10, 11 And 12:
Missing "suggest as you type" Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Very good! It has almost all items I used to use in the original GTB, the only thing I miss is the "suggest as you type" device. Would be nice to have it!This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.8.2).

It would be very nice if you could include slovenian site (google.si) in the next version. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.8.2).
My savior Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I love the "Highlight search terms" feature. I couldn't live without it since the Google Toolbar was abandoned. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.8.2).
1 problem tha needs addressing Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I have used this add on for a while and while i appreciate it a great deal there is something that really annoys me.
Say for example i do a right click context menu search with Google, ie. highlight a word > right click> "search Google for" it opens a new tab as normal, i click on the tab and the search term appears in the search box. which is fine...
The problem is that when you press the little black down arrow in the search box, the only history which has been manually typed into the box will show up. meaning that any of my numerous right click context searches will never be recorded in the search box for future use.
If this was resolved i would give it a 5 star rating, but as it is have given this add on a still very decent 4 stars...
Jonah PLEASE look into this small issue would make me a very happy person indeed!
Use the Googlebar Lite Context Menu
If you use the Googlebar Lite context menu items, your highlighted words will get added to the search history. I do not trap queries performed via mechanisms outside of Googlebar Lite.

While this is not a perfect replacement for my beloved Google Toolbar, it is a good substitute. I do wish there was a way to make my old Google Toolbar work with FF 11 though. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.8.2).
Run fine... Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Run fine with FF 10.0.2 (and older). This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.8.2).

yes, for me also suggestions don't work on firefox >=10
i haven't tried older versions.
eh... there's a reason why this is called "lite", no?
apart from that, i like it. :)
Too limited Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Great idea - better would have been to leave the original compatability!
Where are all the other toolbar options like dashboard and movies?
Why does it need to take up a whole new line eliminating valuable screen real estate?
For me, unusable
Could be a godsend but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I installed this because I cannot live without the Google highlighter - however, following a reinstall recently (1) the highlighter no longer toggles* on/off when the icon is clicked, I have to refresh the page (a minor nuisance), and (2) although I've set Google.co.uk as the search site I get American results (a major nuisance). I'm sure these failings will be fixed eventually and then it will be a 5-star add-on. It's very neat 'n tidy.
*Yes it does, depending on site, so one star added on.
Make sure you have the "Use secure search where possible" option disabled, and the .co.uk searches should work. It used to be that Google only offered secure search at the .com address, so I force all secure traffic through that location. I see that they have changed their policy on that, so I will make this change in the next release.

I've started using this extension since the last version of Google Toolbar apparently doesn't work in the latest version of Nightly. I like this extension as a replacement pretty well, but it really needs a GMail button and Google suggest integration. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.8.2).

SIMPLE & AWESOME!!! I am SO happy to have found this! My favorite and most used function of the google toolbar was the highlighter. It was the main reason to use google - I was lost without it and thinking of going Chrome. Now I don't have to. Thanks SO much Johah!!!This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.8.2).

Great Tool to replace Googles Toolbar wihich is gone anyway. Love it!
I'm only missing the double quotes ("") around the Drag and Drop text to be searched. Would love this to be added in future.
Google translator Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Would it be possible you add the option of google translate in a button? This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.7.11).

Love this...but...seems to be broken in Firefox 8.0. The searches no longer populate the bar when a new page is loaded.
So...perform a search--click the link in the Google results...and...the bar is now empty.
Hopefully there will be an upgrade soon as not having the terms carry over negates the major functionality of this essential tool.
Version 4.8.2, which has been submitted here for review, will correct this issue.
Excellent apart from 1 thing... Rated 4 out of 5 stars
It would earn an extra star if it could do the predictive search thing that the real toolbar did until its demise.
At the moment it only predicts your own previously entered searches, rather than the ones everyone has done through Google.
how to search highlighted words Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Very handy addon.
But, can you add one more functionality? If I drag to select a word (or words) on a web page, right click, can there be an option to search the word inside this page or hightlight them.
suche auf seiten wie Wiki / Wissen.de Rated 3 out of 5 stars
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.7.11).
Add Gmail and Google Calendar Buttons Rated 4 out of 5 stars
But..It would be perfect if it were able to log you into your Google Account and add Gmail and Google Calendar Buttons to Options for immediate access. Other customizable buttons would be an added boon of course..
Google Toolbar is no longer compatible with newer builds of Firefox. Above suggestions would allow this add-on to replace that toolbar entirely.
