"The one-star review was crap." Hilarious. This is from a person who calls the WebRTC functionality a "vulnerability".

My "one-star review" accurately pointed out that this extension did not notice changes to the applicable setting that were made outside the extension itself. The developer replied positively to my review, said "Good call", and improved the extension as a result. Then, a real expert chimed in.

Thanks for updating the extension. Well done.

@Nope: Although Chrome does not natively allow you to block WebRTC (at the time of this writing, anyway), there are Chrome extensions that can block WebRTC in that browser. Please find them, and go back to using Chrome.

The one-star review was crap. I just discovered this vulnerability yesterday. From what I've learned thus far, there is no way to protect yourself if you are using Chrome, so today I've fired Firefox up for the 1st time in over 2 years, and installed this plugin. It's the only solution I've found for Chrome Users. An extension for Chrome that used to work no longer works (leaving nothing to prevent WebRTC from handing over your IP Address on demand), so the only solution for Chrome users is to use Firefox with this plugin. When you have the ONLY effective solution on the entire planet, you deserve more than one star. I figure 4 stars to start and I'll test it out for a week or so and come back for a follow-up review.

However, that is one BUTT UGLY icon, lol. Somewhere, there's a lephrechan missing it's sphincter. But function is always more important than form. Developer can worry about asthetics after the plugin is out of beta. Right?

If you had a place to leave an email address, I would give it for extended information exchange, etc... I can promote the plugin on a couple of forums if it works. Techsupport forum, bleeping computer, Kickass torrents, private internet access's forum, badcaps dot net, torrentfreak and maybe a couple of others.

Thanks for the feedback. I just redesigned the icon to be prettier and more communicative. If you're down to spread the word, that would be awesome. Feel free to leave an issue on GitHub (https://github.com/ChrisAntaki/disable-webrtc-firefox) if you have any more ideas. Have a great rest of your weekend.

Great addon, thank you for your hard work Chris Antaki.

For those who can't/wont use this addon follow this....

To disable

Enter "about:config" in the address bar and press enter
Press the button "I'll be careful, I promise!"
Type in "media.peerconnection.enabled" in the search bar (there should be only one entry)
Right-click the entry choose "Toggle", the column "Value" should now be "false"

To enable

Enter "about:config" in the address bar and press enter
Press the button "I'll be careful, I promise!"
Type in "media.peerconnection.enabled" in the search bar (there should be only one entry)
Right-click the entry choose "Toggle", the column "Value" should now be "true"

If you know of, or are also a Chrome user please be aware that the Addon equivilant is very easily curcumvented! Chrome design fault, not Addon maker.

Can you add a button to activate/deactivate webRTC in the FF menu to?

Glad you like it. Yes, I'm planning to add that feature this month.

Web RTC for Seamonkey? Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Disable RTC works great in Firefox but not in Seamonkey.
Would it be possible to also provide it for this browser?

This plugin is using the "Jetpack" Add-on SDK from Mozilla, which doesn't support Seamonkey, to my knowledge. Sorry about that. Glad it's working well in Firefox though.

Works great in Firefox. Unfortunately it's not available for Thunderbird. Hopefully that will be fixed soon!

Useful Add-on - hides your internal IP address. You can disable WebRTC without Add-on in "about:config" by toggle "media.peerconnection.enabled" to "false".
