My Reviews

ExQuilla for Microsoft Exchange

Excellent Value for Money! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This integrated fantastically well with my corporate Exchange account; now I can use all my favorite Thunderbird addons and have the space saving ergonomic layout of Tb, plus ease of folder traversing "Next Unread Email" and tabbed mail; I don't even have to be on VPN anymore to manage my mail.

Connecting to the EWS server on Thunderbird Release was an absolute breeze, the price is really good and definitely worth the added comfort and stability. As a developer I can appreciate that this is actually not an easy task to pull off, and Kent even offered some support for a Calendar provider.

In terms of productivity, this is a huge win over the free browser access, the money spent on this was basically made back on in time on the first day.

Now if we could just have another addon that connects the Thunderbird UI to the server side filters (Microsoft calls them "message rules") ! :-)

New Add-on Bar

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Well executed and simple. This was really needed for the new Australis Theme. Looking forward to seeing this in action when Australis finally arrives.

ColumnsWizard

Excellent Addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Another good example for an Addon that adds just the right amount of "missing feature" to my beloved Thunderbird.

It works also very well in search results and removes one more unnecessary step from an operation that I do frequently. Thanks for adding the account column as well. I can see that this is going to be even more useful in the future as you have added custom fields so it looks it should be easy enough to add more useful information here in the future.

keep up the awesome work!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.4).

ColumnCV

Awesome! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I just downloaded + installed this, and although I do not use conversation view, it is still very useful as it also adds the column to the search results view and removes one more unnecessary step from an operation that I do frequently. It would be even more useful to me if you could also [optionally] add an account column as well.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).

Stationery

Another 5 stars! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for supporting the SmartTemplate4 Addon in 0.8! This made both addons even more useful! I can now use fully styled html templates and the convenient user interface of selecting templates via single-click; whilst using the powerful variables available in SmartTemplate4. Definitely a very useful productivity tool.

With Stationery+ST4, it is very easy to set up form letters such as support replies and save tons of time when replying to support mail. We are thrilled about this new version.

Rise of the Tools

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks a lot - I have based my own extension "Menu On Top" on your code, so this gave me a great head start. Personally I like the tools close to the window contents, but I absolutely despise having the menu there all the time; so thanks for a good tool idea with a great restartless execution.

key logger. careful.

Stationery

Indispensable! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is indispensable. Excellent replacement for signatures (which are a bit weak in Thunderbird). Also the HTML editor is really worth its weight in gold. It is a total time saver for standard replies (template).

Also support is very good and the author is open to good suggestions. Love the font preview feature - I didn't even know it was supplied by you, as I have been using Stationery for a long time now.

Rise of the Tools

Good idea Rated 5 out of 5 stars

.. for those people who like the toolbar on top. There is a bug that seems to break existing style sheets though - my extension QuickFolders (3.1) is one of the affected:
https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=24864
I have coded a workaround, but maybe you could contact me to work on fixing this bug?

Mail Summaries

Really Great Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This really adds a lot of value to the account and mail panes (when no message is selected). It would be great for us "Copy Sent to Current" users if it you could add some options for ignoring our own emails for items like "Top Authors". Recent Messages is a great feature as well for cherry-picking without browsing.

Nuvola TB

slick looking - great integration Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Looks slick & polished. Also I like the integration for Add-Ons like QuickFolders!

Location Bar Enhancer

An excellent update Rated 5 out of 5 stars

You really put in a lot of good work. I especially like the way you have streamlined the interface while keeping the old look as an option; also the option of adding user defined style sheets is great. I like the way you keep the important information of the URL path visible, while color coding the various elements, so this makes it a very useful addition both for web users and developers alike.

Location Bar Enhancer

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a good usability feature, the dropdowns add real value. I don;t care for combining the bookmarks in the address bar too much, as this simply makes it too crammed.

It should _not_ however treat the querystring the same way as the other parts of the URL, as the qs variables are really not "levels" but just a flat list. IMO anything after the file name must remain the way it was originally; e.g. foo.com > search.html?category=antiques&item=Clock&pages=3

Or you can add more value by providing a collapsable editable listbox with querystring items. Also in-page anchors (#) should probably have a different character than > and the URL should not always end with > because you do not know whether you are looking at a directory or a document. 4 points though for the very useful features within the main part of the URL.
It would be nice to have some proper chevrons (instead of using the ugly characters > and v)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.5).

Stationery

great productivity booster Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is super useful for 2 reasons:

you can create template replies for repeating answers, so it is great for support or donation mail.

the built in HTML source view. This is simply a must in order to create great looking emails without resorting to an external editor. Supports everything gecko8 supports, so it is CSS3, including border radius, gradients, transitions, anything that would make a web site look nice, now also in my emails.

thanks for a great extension.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7.7).

Extension Test

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very good - minimal interface, super easy to use, valuable!

A must have for every extension developer.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.5).

CompactHeader

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Lovely extension, which I didn't use for a while because it made DispMUA do strange things. Now I have written a patch and put up a link here:

Extra Folder Columns

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This one is valuable and indispensable. Some people think that this work is done by my extension quickfolders, so I think it would be a good idea if you could upload a preview screenshot (maybe before-after) so people know at a glance what it does.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.2).

Personas Plus

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Still no Themes support in Thunderbird :( adding the lightweightThemes.forceSkinning setting didn't help either.

Just can't live without my beloved Mostly Crystal - the default icons are just good enough. Why do you not include a "Enable Themes" option in the Personas UI?
Personas doesn't do very much - doesn't skin the menus, the Add-On and Preferences windows etc. etc. - why is it disabling the much more powerful (and much more thought through) Themes?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6.1).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

Master Password+

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you, awesome extension. You really add some good value with each new version, I can see that you want to make the UI as simple and productive as possible. I especially like the use of the top dropdown notification bar for showing blocked Master Password queries - very easy on the eye and simple to use.

Keep up the good work, and keep simplifying !

DM BBCode Extension

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

@Mike who said this was 'useless' and 'flawed'. Extensions are built by users, not by the Mozilla Firefox team. Most of them do not earn any money, but they Do listen to their users. Packaging the functionality of this into a toolbar is easy, and so is adding support for more BBCodes - you could ask the developer for this feature or hack it in yourself or ask a friend. LIke most extensions here this is based on a Public License, so unlike with a proprietary plugin (such as the numerous ones available to Internet Explorer) it is _not_ illegal to modify or fix it.

As such there are many extensions that had humble beginnings (like this maybe just as a context menu) but grew to something more usable over time. Certainly throwing tantrums doesn't help the situation. Surely you can use another browser but you will not find anybody who is going to build you a plugin that does exactly what you want on the first attempt and without any input.

Also, look at your requirements "a way to make bbCode buttons on forum websites work" do really believe that this is a common goal for all and any users of web sites? I believe this is quite nice funtionality to live in an extension, as it is clearly not of interest to the average user.
