Why was Contact Tabs created?
I used to manage my calendar, tasks and contacts with Microsoft Outlook. I've always found Outlook's email component to be weak and had been using Thunderbird for years. So it made sense to ditch Outlook and switch to Thunderbird with Lightning. While this combination works very well,I think Thunderbird's address book is relatively basic. Contact Tabs is my attempt to improve it. While I don't plan to completely re-do the address book I do think that a couple of widgets here and there -- together with Thunderbird's tab interface -- will help to streamline access to contacts.
If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
