Home Feeds

Feeds for Firefox on Android Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been waiting for this for a very long time.

To be honest, I'd rather if it were a built in feature rather than an add-on, but that's my only complaint.

It's probably not supported by the panels feature, but the only way I could think of making this better would be to have all feeds be a tab in a single panel instead of creating a separate panel for each.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7).

GKeep Panel

Not quite perfect, but pretty closee Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It has a few things I would like to see changed, but this is implemented almost perfectly. It's just simple and clean.

I would like to see the location not attached to the button so I can drag it out of the way if I want to, and it would be great if it were resizable like any other windwo, but other than that I wouldn't want it any different.

Other than that, it's exactly what I want. Quick access to Keep. Looks like a natural component of the browser, opens and closes quickly too.

Australis Redesigned

Close enough for most. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is fairly accurate to the upcoming design for Firefox (which can be seen in UX builds). It doesn't add the new menu, but that would be impractical as it is being constantly changed and is not fully functional right now.

I really want to like this theme, but some of my most often used features (developer toolbar, etc.) are unsuable.

Also, as many have compained about, the bookmark star in the awesomebar is gone... this is the way it is supposed to be. However, I believe that the star for the bookmarks menu us supposed to be filled in when a site is bookmarked.

Lastly, the pluggins button at the beginning of the awesomebar is blank/missing.

Overall, this theme looks really good... for those who just want the new design that was supposed to have come in Firefox 10. I'm sad to say that I have to disable (not remove) it until some of these things are fixed. I know that I am one of few who actually uses these things, but they are essential to me. I will be watching for updates and trying it again.

Homepage New Tab

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So far so good.
Adds about:newTab to about:home and uses this for both home & new tab.
Old new tab can still be viewed using about:newTab.

Also adds rows and columns to most viewed.

Three Finger Swipe

Great concept Rated 3 out of 5 stars

but not working in Firefox 17 beta on Droid 2. Would be great to have this as two finger gestures for those whose three fingers are on both edges. Keeping this installed in hopes that the next update will make this work for me.

Lightbeam for Firefox

A good idea Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I'm glad to see something like this. I have intended on seeing what difference it makes to turn off DNT. My only compliant against this is that it keeps showing my add-on bar on restart on both Windows and Ubuntu.

Firefox Share (alpha)

Love that they've added contacts Rated 4 out of 5 stars

There are a few bugs to work out still, and I don't like that it bookmarks your shares, but it is finally better than F1 in just about every way.
Like many, I am very much looking forward to Google+ sharing being added. Something I'm going to look into for the time being, does G+ have a share by email option?

Firefox Share (alpha)

Well, better name Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I always thought F1 was a great name for help, but not for sharing. Icon is better as well.
Firefox Share does what it says, but still lacks some of the accounts (but they promise they are coming). I'll not hold that against them, mainly because I don't care about Yahoo or a second Twitter. My only problem is that Gmail has not use of contacts. F1 had a messed up way of getting your contacts, although you had to delete out the name and brackets. Share requires you to fully type in the address. On the plus side, however, it adds the page title as subject of the email.
I also think it would be great if you were able to use this to set status on Facebook (not sharing a link). That would be above and beyond what is expected of this- like the cherry on top.
Can't wait for more services to be added, especially Google+. Looking forward to updates!
One last thing. I don't want to bookmark everything that I share. F1 had the option to disable this, and I hope to see this option in the next version.

Glass - Black

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

great on computer and android

Start Page Plus

great idea... no longer does anything Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This stopped working awhile ago. Tried disabling and re-enabling features, uninstalled and re-installed, even went as far as doing the same for firefox... nothing! I would gladly give 5 starts and say that it should be included in firefox by default, if only it actually did what it used to!
Now, I noticed that it hasn't even been updated for 9 months... very sad. I really liked this, but looks as though it has been abandoned.

Australis

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

More exceptional work by SoapyHamHocks!
This effortlessly takes the "Best Theme" prize, event though it is based on a Firefox 9 concept. Everything is flawless as far as I can tell.

Mozilla Labs App Runtime

User created apps Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is going to be incredible once web sites catch on. Way to take something Google does and make them look like amateurs!
One suggestion I have is to allow users to easily make their own Apps... just to add sites to the list, without the extended features which would require a little more effort.

F1 by Mozilla Labs

Great concept... getting there. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I am not sure in detail how this works, but there is a delay in the bubble that is likely related to my slow internet. I think that the name and icon need to change (kinda misleading). I would also like to see, as I had said at some earlier point, for this to be moved into the favicon as seen in firefox mobile. It would also be great to see private messages available in facebook. Otherwise, great.

Mozilla Labs: Prospector - AwesomeBar HD

Makes the name "AwseomeBar" appropriate Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Taking into account that this is still in development, this is a truly great add-on. After using it for search once or twice, it had already become natural. It is also amazing how fast search results come up even on my absurdly slow internet. I look forward to seeing some aesthetic improvements, some divergence from what Google has done in Chrome, and the ability to add and remove your own search providers... otherwise this is excellent!

Web of Trust - WOT

Explaining a little about the privacy policy Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I was going though rating and reviewing my add-ons, and was surprised to see the concerns regarding Google Analytics and facebook as posted by some. I was shocked to read this, and even more so shocked to see it for myself. I put off my review until I contacted them, and had this explained to me: "We use Google Analytics and have Facebook like buttons (and other widgets) on our website like most other websites in the world. You are not exposed to either of these by just using the add-on, only if you visit our website."
I can say that I feel much better about this now, and can continue to give this add-on a full 5 star rating, without hesitation. I consider this to be one of the essential add-ons on any browser.

Facebook Toolbar

Troublesome Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I like this when it is working... except that isn't very often. On everything I have every computer and version of Firefox I have ever tried this on, picture upload via DnD does not work. Also, it will sometimes freeze everything by notifying me that everybody on my friends list is not my friends, as though they had just added me. Lastly, the concept of a toolbar is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I say move messages/notifications/etc to the addons bar, drop search all together, and allow status updates though awesomebar! Also, share links via the favicon as in Firefox mobile.
With all the fixes and some innovation, this could earn 5 stars, but it has become nothing but an outdated pain lately.

Twitter Address Bar Search

Desktop vs. Mobile Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very different experience on Firefox mobile. Desktop version is exactly what you would want and expect: 5 stars!
On my droid, however, it does not direct me twitter mobile. I would give it 5 stars for mobile as well except for this problem... and it actually makes it completely useless since Firefox mobile can't even log-in to regular twitter: 3 stars (1 for execution, but 5 still for concept... averaging 3).

AppTab Nav-B-Gone

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I've begun using "aaapptabs." I switched because aapptabs is restartless. Coming back here, I find that this is supposedly stolen from someone. On top of that, it really REALLY bugs me when people have spelling errors describing their product (NOTE: this has benn tested on... *been*), and even more so that their homepage is a dead link. The description obviously hasn't been updated since before Firefox 4's release.
I just verified it for myself. This was released on deviant art on I checked it for myself. The add-on on deviant art is submitted November 6, 2010. This was released on here February 2011. The difference between AppTab Nav-B-Gone and AppTabDoohickey is that AppTab Nav-B-Gone contains a .js file with all the functions in the .xul of AppTabDoohickey.

F1 by Mozilla Labs

A little room for improvement Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I would say that it is a great start for the add-on, but there is plenty of room for improvement. For starters, the name and icon are a bit confusing. F1 associates with help, not sharing. The icon is pretty basic- it could use a re-think. In fact, I think the best solution is to get rid of the icon and add the feature into the Website ID like it is in Firefox Mobile. Also, although the included services are good enough for me, I could see why others would want more options.

Nokia Synchronization

To sync your phone with Thunderbird... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Redingo, I understand your issue with wanting to replace outlook. I have found a way to work around this issue, but it does still require outlook, and is more complicated than it should be... but it works. Get the Nokia PC Suite from http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/software/nokia-suites-for-your-pc
Get gSyncit (for $15) from http://www.daveswebsite.com/
Get Provider for Google Calendar add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/sunbird/addon/4631
Get Zindus add-on from
http://www.zindus.com/
After ALL THAT, you have your phone synced with Outlook, which is synced with Thunderbird.
Of course, all this is assuming that you have the Lightning add-on... :)
