No More Install Delay No Restart

Disable the install delay in Firefox. New 2.0 version now includes GreaseMonkey scripts!

Unlike similar addons, this works on Firefox 4 and beyond.

My Reviews

History Button

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This addon would be perfect if it played well with Australis. It's both missing an icon and is too large to work properly in the new Firefox Menu. If you could fix it to have a new icon and restrict its size to the same as the other Australis buttons, I would love to use this addon.

Unfortunately, the fact that I can't use it makes me drop two stars, even though I support the idea. Fix this, and I will change it to five stars.

Still mostly works on Firefox 26 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

You can't use the "clear all" feature, but everything else still works fine, if you disable compatibility checking (using the addon "Disable Add-on Compatibility Checks")

Remember Passwords

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does what it's supposed to do. "

(AFAIK, Gmail doesn't need this addon.)

Gmail Notifier (restartless)

A+ Developer Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The only thing that would make it better would be the option to open a panel that showed a list of all your emails, instead of automatically opening the first unread email, and making you jump through them one at a time. I've filed an issue about this.

My other requests were answered. Although I'm still waiting on the above, the response was so good that I am bumping this up to five stars. I absolutely love developers who listen and realize that their users are important.

Cleanest Addon Manager

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Suggestions: reduce size of restart and incompatibility warnings. Allow option to condense buttons on the left to just their icons (like Firefox does automatically if the addon window is too small). Option to reduce size of buttons on right ("Options", "Disable", "Remove")--perhaps replace them with icons. Change default to minimal adaptive, as it is cleaner.

I know this is a CSS hack, so I won't ask for features.

Suspend Tab

Pretty good, but Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Like pretty much all my reviews, I really like this addon, but feel it is missing something. In this case, I would like to see an option to also go by how many tabs one has open, instead of just by time. So if I open more than, say, 10 tabs, the first ones I opened get suspended. Honestly, that would be more useful to me than one based on time.Still, I'm quite impressed with what you've come up with. This addon should pretty much be built into Firefox as the default. It would certainly hush those who complain about memory.

Adendum: I'm docking off one more star for failing to do something you claim it can do. It is not keeping the metadata on scroll position. This is something even unloading the tab can do--or, at least, it does on app restart. This is really annoying.

Private Tab

Good, but needs options Rated 4 out of 5 stars

There need to be options for how to change the text labels on private tabs. Perhaps even an option to use a special favicon.

REPLY: If I'm understanding you correctly, I'd just put them in anyways (change the userChrome.css yourself) and, if an extension messes it up, it messes it up. But I don't see why it wouldn't also mess up the blue underline.

Thanks for the workaround, anyways.

Private Browsing Personas

Works, but Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It does what it says it would do, but I would love an addon that let me pick a different persona for private browsing.

I can't believe they were dumb enough to do this intentionally. I just assumed it was a mistake. Different persona--good. Only default persona--bad.

Download Panel Tweaks

No delete file feature Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Sorry, but the delete file feature is really important. This is so close to being a replacement for the original Download Manager Tweak for the new Download panel.

At least look into it. You've released an addon to the public. Just because you won't use it doesn't mean you should not even try. If it's too hard, fine. But please at least look. You may even be able to copy code from Download Manager Tweak.

Vlc context menu

4.5 stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Yeah, I'm rounding up. This works really well, but to get the final half star, I'd like to see the following:

1. Proper capitalization: The menu item should be "Add URL to VLC playlist."

2. More defaults, like .m4v, so I don't have to add that manually.

3. Better vlc.exe detection. I had it installed in the default (Windows 32-bit) location, and yet the addon still couldn't find it automatically. (Even better would be to check the registry in Windows)

Yeah, these are all nitpicks. But that's all that's wrong with this addon. It's almost perfect!

BTW, it would seem that it would be pretty easy to convert this into a more generic addon. Add a place for command line options and let people pick their preferred executable, and it would work with any media player. Then all you'd need is some default settings for common media programs and to change the context menu (perhaps giving an option to change it), and you'd be set.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does exactly what it says it will! Sure, there are some files that won't work, but that's what the Force Content Type addon is for.

Update Scanner

Still counts some numbers Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Yep, that's a major flaw. It counts the followers and hours since each post on Twitter. The very first update it didn't, but it did every time after that. That would have been only one star, but I threw in an extra one for the nice interface. The way it acts when it gets an update is nice.

But the addon does not work as it says it will work, so it cannot get an average (3 stars) or above review. I had to uninstall this because I couldn't use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This addon does exactly what it's designed to do. The fact that somebody (nobutan) can't understand what it's for doesn't change the fact that it does what it' supposed to.

Seriously, if you don't understand something, don't review it. And especially don't be a jerk about it.

Flash Video Downloader - YouTube Full HD Download

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Continues to work when similar addons fail. The only thing preventing a 5 star review is that you can't close the page or close the downloader. And there needs to be a way to open the video as soon as the download is done, either directly or by opening the Download dialog.

Add-on Compatibility Reporter

Doesn't work and lied Rated 1 out of 5 stars

There is no reason not to continue to include the old functionality. It's not as if it were hard, unlike the lies given in the link above. It's just a different about:config setting.

99% of the people who use this addon use it to make old addons work. It is irresponsible to file an upgrade that breaks this ability. If you wanted to go back to just compatibility reporting, the right thing to do is not to intentionally break the functionality, but to release it separately, so that it doesn't harm those who are currently using the feature you no longer want to support.

It's bad enough that the Firefox developers are losing sight of their mission of providing the browser users want and not checking with their users before intentionally breaking previous functionality. At least they have the excuse of having to bow to a (non-profit) commercial entity, But the writer of this addon has no excuse. He or she decided that he knows best for everyone else. That is not right.

I will no longer be reporting addons due to this egregious behavior. How's that for hurting your goal?

Google/Yandex search link fix

Nice, but Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Nice addon and concept, but I wish there was a way to keep the URLs and just add a small icon or something that I could click on and get the plain URL. I don't mind giving Google a little data in exchange for using their service. I just hate that the broke the ability to just right click on a URL and copy it to the clipboard.

Good, but needs colored button Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I was able to tweak this to my liking, except I couldn't keep the orange Firefox button. I would like such an option.

Themed Button for Linux

Nice! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My hard drive just messed up and I'm having to use Linux. IT was nice to get my Firefox button back.

Now if only there was a way to get rid of the title bar when maximized. (Right now, I cheat by moving the titlebar offscreen.)

TabGroups Manager

Good idea, bad implementation Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is the correct way to handle groups, unlike Mozilla's version which hides inactive groups in such an odd UI. (For them, just using separate Windows makes more sense.)

But, unfortunately, it does not play well with tabs on top. It needs to take the top spot, and have tabs right below it, and then the address bar. Having the address bar in the title bar just looks awful and subverts the rationale of having tabs on top.

It also would be a good idea to have a mode where the tabs stay on top, and the groups go just below. That way you still get the other advantage of tabs on top: faster navigation, as you can move the mouse up to the top really quickly and you'll always be on the tab bar.

Tab Mix Plus

@Rosie Rated 5 out of 5 stars

That page is misleading. The slowness rating only applies to making Firefox start up slower. TMP does not actually make Firefox run any slower.
