The best FireFox add-on that I've found is Webmail Ad Blocker. It blocks those annoying ads which otherwise appear on Hotmail. Webmail Ad Blocker is the primary reason I switched to Firefox and I love it.

About a week ago Gmail changed something, and now this add-on makes it work weird. For example when sending mails, it remains "sending in background" status, though the mail is sent actually.

Great add-on to stop adds Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Wonderful add-on. Works with Firefox 12.
For what I have seen, work the same as AdBlock Plus, but better. Even in Gmail adds are history.
Thanks.

Works well with Firefox 8 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works perfectly with Firefox 8 and Hotmail. (IMHO installing the very latest Firefox is usually inadvisable as some add-ons probably haven't been fully tested with it; old versions of FF can be downloaded from filehippo.com.)

Ad blocker has worked wonders for the past few years; however, Hotmail programmers have figured out how to disable your email account if it detects ad-blocker is active. In other words, if you have Ad-Blocker turned on, your Hotmail account will be non-responsive to whatever you try to do: view, edit, compose, and you will get error messages. Once you disable Ad-Blocker, Hotmail works again, and yep there are those pesky ads again as well.

No Ads in Gmail, really nice! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Nice add-on removing the annoying Ads in Gmail. Thanks! There are some problems in handling People Widget (icons are garbled), but I choose to use the option to remove the widget. I used to use Grease Monkey script to remove Ads; but, in that case, there was not an option related to People Widget (icons were garbled in the same way), also bottom Ads were there. Webmail Ad Blocker handles the bottom Ads, too. Really nice.

Not perfectly compatible with the new look in Gmail. Gmail features are removable as advertised, but the large block of white space remains on the right side where the ads and People's Widget used to be. Also, ditto on the annoyance over the "Webmail Ad Blocker" donation plea in the Gmail menu bar. Works great in the old look though, so it just needs an update!

I don't understand why this capability cannot be a subscription to AdBlock Plus + Element Hider, except for some ostentatious adware notification. I already have blocked most Gmail and Yahoo mail ads, and if I had the time, I'd find a way expand the wasted space -- yes a bit manual, but more elegant, no need for additional addon and w/o the ad annoyance.

Uninstalled Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I updated my Gmail to the new look (the 'Preview' theme) and, lo and behold, I ended with a big 'WebMail Ad Blocker' item in the menu bar, pushing for a donation. As there seemed to be no way to make it disappear, I uninstalled the addon. It might have been useful, but this was intrusion of the most unwelcome kind. I see no difference after uninstall.

Im not buying this!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

So there you go, it slightly works, but there are some bugs to be levelled out..
Besides, that advert at the top is rather patronising, and the inability to remove it is even worse..

If I think software deserves a donation for quality, then I decide that, NOT YOU!
UN-INSTALLED!

thank you for the feedback

I've created several addons now, mostly in Chrome and I'm trying different things all the time, and I'm also trying to understand my users. Your wording does reveal some emotion (and don't worry you're not the first) but I'd like to understand the root cause. I completely understand if you don't want to enlighten me, but here my questions... Why was the link patronizing you? Did you feel forced to donate to use my addon? Have you every donated/contributed for anything online? How much and how frequent? Would you say you actively write reviews or comments for online material? What is your ratio of good and bad reviews? Do you have any alternative suggestion for me? I just realized that while writing this that ironically my main clientele probably despises ads and therefore they would obviously react badly to my link resembling an ad. Hmm I should have realized that much earlier :) I am genuinely just seeking honest feedback from you since you already took the time to write once. People Widget in GMail Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This add-on is great. However, it does not work well with the People Widget Google introduced. When I disable this add-on, GMail looks fine. When enabled, the icons are garbled. Please update.

Great but need few tweaks Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very good add-on and i'm considering to donate. it works very well on the latest version of Gmail or Hotmail. it used to work with Yahoo!Mail beta but as they are publishing the final version, there is still a sectino that is not hidden when the user activate the option:
"Show X number of Message per page" instead of the infinite scrolling setting.
Hopefully this is gonna be updated soon.

Also i'm wondering if this is gonna play well with Gmail's "People Widget"that was announced yesterday

Thank for the great work

Not Bad - Except for the Donation Link! Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on but for the publisher to remove the adverts in gmail and hotmail and to insert his own "you have to donate" link in order to remove it feels a bit like someone holding a gun to my head. I don't buy that so I followed the content of the 'fix' posted by 'Yeeeeeeeeees' and voila! THE LINK IS GONE! If the author hadn't tried to force a donation in such a devious way, I would probably have made a donation and rated this extension with 5 stars instead of 3.
