"The current version of SkipScreen incorporates two third-party tools that collect their own usage data: Google Search, and AddThis (http://addthis.com).
After downloading a file, you'll see a post-download page that offers links for sharing that file, and two Google search boxes for searching for more files to download (one for SkipScreen compatible sites, and one for torrents).
Not a big deal if you use Google regularly?! Are you kidding?
Even if you use Google, it doesn't mean that Google know what file you download from other sharing websites every time.
I won't say it is a "spyware" but if you use it, just bear in mind, you trade some of your privacy for the usage of this addon, that's the point.
New preference pane / privacy
Hey, thanks for writing. First, I'm not sure that our script does give Google any information about what page you were on when the google search was loaded, since we are loading that page from within the script. Looking into that now. If it does, and there's a way to avoid this, we'll fix it as soon as possible.
But I think the most important thing is that people be able to turn off the post-download page entirely if that's what they want to do. Tons of people really like it (we've had requests to make that search page *more* available) but other people think it's a drag, either for aesthetic reasons or because of a (healthy ;) suspicion of Google.
The preference pane will also let you turn skipscreen on and off for specific sites, and in coming releases it will give you site-specific options (e.g. "let me listen to that zshare mp3 before downloading" or "I have a mega premium account, always pick mega from sharebee"). I know this was one of the things that you requested in a previous review, so hopefully you'll find this good news on two fronts :)
If there's anything else we can do to tidy things up on our end, let us know. We're developing this in our spare time, so it's hard to catch every detail.
