Basic Tool, Badly needed Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Find exactly where in your 1,000s of Bookmarks WHERE your Bookmark ACTUALLY IS. Been putting up with this problem for 20-30yrs, why it hasn't been built into FireFox is beyond me.
TYVM !

This will run very slow and sometimes appear to hang under the following conditions:
- have a long list of bookmarks
- search for an item
- click on a found item
- in the tree, scroll up and down

After a few uses of the above steps this addon will hang firefox for several seconds. It will even cause Windows to display "Not responding" in the title bar.

Fantastic! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been looking on and off for years for this functionality. Thanks so much!
It needs a bit of guidance on how to use e.g. need to highlight a bookmark using cursor or right-click and the tree appears in the lower half of the sidebar.

Great bookmarks search addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

That is what standard FF bookmarks search lacks. Great addon for easy search of bookmarks

Useful, awkward Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The functionality to find the folder of a bookmark should be in the Firefox core. This add-on provides that feature (thank you) but the user interface is awkward and not obvious.

Great Tools Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great tools to organize bookmarks. Show Parent Folder, Go Parent Folder and Sidebar Bookmarks Search Plus make a perfect team. Thank you!

Thanks very much for this extension. I have over 800 bookmarks, all carefully arranged in folders and subfolders. Sometimes I just want to know where a link is in that heirarchy and Firefox, AFAIK, doesn't allow you to find that information. This extension makes it possible to do this. You simply type a key word into the search field which the extension adds to the bookmarks sidebar, and then right click on the result you want to find. VOILA! The location in your bookmarks list instantly opens. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is that it would be nice if there was instead a button you could click on and which would accomplish the same thing as right clicking on a result. That's because I probably will forget the right-click trick by the next time I use this extension. Regardless, it really helped me today, so thanks very much!

good job- FF needed this Rated 5 out of 5 stars

not an essential addon, but a no brainer great feature. Organizing bookmarks can be hard with hundreds of sites and folder trees. This helps me find a related bookmark so I can organize them easier and group them. apparently right clicking on the bookmark in search results shows the folder it's in. wasn't clear at first. Thank you. Now if only this could be incorporated in the default bookmark window such that selecting the bookmark when searched for also shows it's location. that would help, but this addon is the next best thing.
UPDATE:
it appears she has done just that and come up with Go Parent Folder add on which reveals the parent folder (by right click and select) within the default bookmarks window. thank you twice. and another add on Show Parent Folder as a column in the search results.

Clear improvement Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is a good start. There are few annoyances though:

1. it does not search for folder names
2. it does not show where in the hierarchy a name found is (instead it has two windows, so I have first to carefully find the folder by using the right button, then use the arrows, to find the folder)
3. when I remove the search word, the folder is gone, so I still have to try to find the folder manually.

If it could just leave things are they are after the last search, i.e. hiearchy for the bookmark visible with the bookmark found still marked it would be perfect.

An optional option, would be to e.g extend the search syntax, like
f:foldername
l+n:location_or_name
t+k:tags_or_keywords
a-l:all_but_location
where
a:all (default)
n:name
l:location
t:tags
k:keyword
d:description

I just created an account to thank you for this add-on. It is almost perfect.
- It would be great if there was an option to only open the selected bookmark in the bottom tree view; i.e. close any previously selected bookmarks before the next one is selected.
- Or maybe add an alternate view (tab-control) to display the full path of the selected bookmark.
- The cherry on the cake would be if you could add an option to select the bookmark within the normal tree-view. So the selected bookmark is visible when you close the search.

Is exactly what I have been looking for. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I have been looking for this simple feature for ages.
So long that I gave up looking.
Not a full star rating, as I think it's usability could be improved.
Although I'm not quite sure how.
Maybe if it worked more like the "switch to tab" when typing in a URL?

FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT CLEAR WHERE IT WORKS. Excellent add-on. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Here is an explanation of where this add-on works.

I had a struggle to figure out what this add-on refers to in Firefox.
I have customized my Firefox and added a button called "Display bookmarks". When I press it, it opens a sidebar at the left where I can navigate the full list of bookmarks.
It is in this area that this add-on works.
Type a keyword in the Search field. Right-click one of the search results obtained after having entered a keyword.
Then, at the bottom, you have a special area where you can easily see the hierarchy of folders where the particular bookmark result that you have selected is located.

Thanks to the developer for again this excellent add-on.
