Nice, but incompatible with Pale Moon browser Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been using RES for months in Firefox (which tells you how much I value it - I quickly delete add-ons I don't use or don't like), but my Firefox was getting corrupted and so I've temporarily switched to Pale Moon (a pre-Australis fork of Firefox). The latest versions of RES don't work with Pale Moon - the most recent version I could find that does work is I'm guessing the incompatibility is due to changes made to support Australis, but who knows? At any rate, as Firefox becomes more and more bloated, I suspect more users will migrate to Pale Moon and/or other forks like Cyberfox, and so it would be nice if we could count on RES being there for us when we do. Any chance of fixing this incompatibility?

Thanks for your review and for your question.

We do appreciate that some Mozilla users are not entirely on board with the direction Firefox is going. Unfortunately the amount of work required to support Firefox forks such as Pale Moon and many others (there are at least 3 or 4 that come to mind) is far greater than you might imagine. It adds a ton of testing / review to our process and the growth isn't quite linear.

We are 100% open to accepting pull requests from users/developers who are able to rectify these incompatibilities for us, but we are unable to guarantee support for specific forks because we're already understaffed ("staff" in quotes, given we're unpaid) for supporting 4 (soon 5) major browsers as it is.

If the community is able to help, we are 100% on board to spend the time reviewing and accepting pull requests, though!

I'm sorry that's a bit short of the answer you're looking for - but I hope it at least clarifies our support (or lack thereof) of specific browsers.

Great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This extension is great! It brings a lot of functionality to reddit and definitely enhances the user experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works very nicely with a lot of great features.

Only hindrance is that sometimes it might erase the saved settings after an update, so you should back up the settings file regularly!

The "new comment count" feature is awesome. Can't believe it's not a default feature on Reddit. Anyway just make sure you make backups of your Reddit Enhancement Suite profile as it sometimes disappear for no reason (usually when updating).

Génial Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Parfaitement fonctionnel, il manque juste un tuto.

FIREFOX Issue leads to extreme frustration Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I have been using RES fine for years, and recently a bug has cropped up in firefox that deletes the settings data. Noone cares that firefox is where the bug originates from, just fix the problem that im facing and this rating will get upgraded.

Great but buggy Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Makes using reddit much more pleasant. Unfortunately, getting to this point requires do a lot of customization of the add-on, and the add-on has a major bug (ongoing for several YEARS) where everything keeps getting set back to default both whenever there is an update and randomly because of factors inside the browser. Only install if you are willing to deal with having to recreate your settings over and over, or if you are willing to use the default configuration.

while I understand your frustration...

it's important to note that this isn't a bug in RES. Rather, Mozilla acknowledges it's a bug in Firefox.

Every other storage mechanism Mozilla offers is/was marked "experimental", and so any sane developer would've chosen simple storage when needing to store more than just a few settings.

It's frustrating, but it's ONLY a problem on Firefox and because of an unfixed Firefox bug.

We are working on a release that uses a new storage mechanism and should alleviate this issue.

After using RES, using reddit without it is unbearable. Makes everything so much easier and faster. No reason not to get it

Wonderful. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I'm not the biggest fan of Reddit. But when I use it I only use it with RES. My only issue (at the moment) is that the newest update (4.5.4) seems to no longer work? I've installed RES, uninstalled it, restarted my computer, and have ha no success with it working.

for tech support, please post info to /r/RESIssues on reddit

that said - the update to 4.5.4 happened in December - an RES update isn't what broke... rather, a Firefox or other extension update seems to have broken RES for some people.

Please post on /r/RESIssues for support and list any/all other addons you run so that we can help diagnose the issue.

Great add on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

it does so much it can be a little intimating the first time you open up the menu but it's definitely worth it once you get it set up to your liking.

It's nearly the perfect Reddit add on. The only thing i would like to see added is notifications for when there is a new thread posted in a subreddit. I would find this useful for less active subs that i want to stay up to date on.

Nice, but disable automatic updates on this plugin Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great addon! I must say though, it has had SO many features added over time that re-installing it between browsers / PCs has become a bit tedious, since I disable so many each time. What is nice about this though is that there is a search feature that allows you to text-search for the features that you don't like. I personally feel that this addon has almost gotten to the point that on install, it should ask you if you would like to run "Light" (only core features enabled) or "Full" (current default setting). Still, many features in this feel almost necessary. I leave Night Mode permanently enabled! This addon feels quite professional - no buttons/options look out of place, all functions work flawlessly.

Update: I have had to lower my rating by a star. Settings reset sometimes when the addon updates. With many addons this would be fine, but with this addon, due to what I mentioned in my original review above, it is incredibly annoying.

Fix this by just disabling automatic updating in Firefox, and never update this plugin.

Once you start using this it is near impossible to go back to normal reddit. Great extension that offers amazing functionality that reddit surprisingly lacks by default.

Adds core functionality that should be there by default. No one should be using reddit without this.

ARGH. ENTER broken in comments Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I edited a comment, went to the bottom and hit ENTER. Whoa, comment saved instead of a newline being inserted. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

A must-have for Redditors Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Provides so much functionality that browsing reddit without RES feels like a pain. After noticing that the latest update supports gfycat, I simply had to write a positive review as the only thing that annoyed me was now fixed.

Absolutely invaluable Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Reddit is so big it's simply impossible to use regularly without this add-on. And kudos to the developers for solving problems almost immediately, always helpful, always friendly

The up/downvote arrows still seem to be missing in RES nightmode though.
