Best Note Taking Add-On Going Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank You, Thank You! This is the best quick note taking add-on going. It remembers all your notes, has up to 6 separate note spaces that are colour customizable. Have it in the side bar or as a floating window - both work great on different things. I am so pleased with it that I wish all browsers would have a simple, no fuss note taker like this. In side bar mode it doesn't take up too much space and all the relevant info you wrote down is right there. Text, URL's can be c/p and that's helped me a lot. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you again to all the dev's! :) (it works on Waterfox 64Bit).

Useful Notes Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Useful ...and, THAT's what it is all about !Rudimentary except for selection of ~tabs~ for each note. An icon on the Add-on Bar provides opportunity to chose a note 1.) in the sidebar, 2.) in a tab, or 3.) floating (like a Post-It Note). Once you make that choice, individual notes can be placed in up to six sub-window tabs. Font type and size are configurable for each of those note tabs. ( Where these notes are saved on your computer can also be individually configured for each of the six tabs. )

Problem with shortkeys interferring with typing Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Your extension is very useful, thank you. Just one thing though that I find pretty annoying. I use QN mainly to translate pages into French and when I use shortkeys to enter special characters it sometimes copies the character onto another tab so I guess your extension must use shortkeys which interfer with the chartable codes. Any way to fix this ? I couldn't find any options to disable shortkeys in QN.

Very Useful!

Very helpful add-on, but would have been better if contents in QuickNote is being able to sync with Firefox sync.

QuickNote fits nicely in to Thunderbird, works well, and no crashes. But I don't think it's quite finished yet. Please could we have more than 6 notes - I would like to be able to right-click somewhere and select "New Note". Also could we have list and icon views of the notes in the main QuickNote tab.

Is it possible to add counting words and letters in statusbar?

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a follow-up to my review from yesterday. The developer said that he couldn't duplicate the first problem I listed, and since there is no way to contact him directly, I guess I have to post it here.

To duplicate the problem of changes not propagating between the three display options (sidebar, float window, and tab), try this example:
Settings --> Autosave on close
Button option - Open in sidebar
Show save button
After doing these settings, open QuickNote in a tab or a float window. Enter some text. Click on the save button. Click on the toolbar button (which will open it in the sidebar). The changes will not be there.
Now, sometimes if you close the float window or the tab before clicking on the toolbar button, the change will appear, but not usually. By following this sequence, I was able to duplicate the problem repeatedly (19 out of 20 tries).

One additional suggestion - being able to enter our own tab captions would be really nice.

Still an excellent add-on regardless.

Thanks for your explanation. I made tests on my last version under developing and all working properly. This version will be soon on AMO (waiting for translations). You can change note title. Just right click on note tab and choose "Rename note".
You can report bugs using link Support Site or Support E-mail which are on add-on page in the AMO.

Great Tool! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I use this every day. I love it! I wish I could have more than 6 notes...say 10-20 and scroll if the tabs take up the whole screen.

Love it but fonts not big enough Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is an indispensable tool however on a big screen across the room the fonts are not big enough. I'm not sure they're even going up to the limit of 25 but then I've tried custom CSS using px, pt and % and the size never grows. Any chance of fixing this flaw?

Thank you, that is exactly what I wanted. Simple & do what is asked.

But is it possible that the extension directly detects footnote # to save in footnote # without going into settings & change?

Thank you very much. 4/5

A simple and well working extension.
But it has a limitation that made me lose all my notes when I upgraded from FF12 to FF15. The problem is because it does not use relative paths to store the Txt files, but only takes absolute paths. After I upgraded and changed the PROFILE folder path, all my notes were erased when I tried to open then from the new version. Interestingly enough, it did not replace the old names I had give to some notes...

I know most people don't use portable Firefox, but it's really easy to implement relative paths -- just parse the path string for an environment variable, (e.g. "%USERPROFILE%\note1.txt") which you must load only once at startup, using something like this:
var UserProfile = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/file/directory_service;1"].getService( Components.interfaces.nsIProperties).get("ProfD", Components.interfaces.nsIFile).path;

Also, when choosing the save path for the notes, you should check whether there is already a valid file (with some text in it) and ask whether to load that file into the respective note. Right now, it just erases/overwrites everything without warning.

Thanks for your rate and feedback. When you install QuickNote first time, in the QuickNote Settongs window on the Folders and Files tab you see blank text fields to set path to your notes folder and files. If you not set folder and files, QuickNote automatically set default folder and files in the your profile folder after open and save QuickNote. The best solution for those which changed profiles is placed QuickNote folder outside user profile.

One of the best note software I've seen for firefox.

One feature I'd request is the ability to set the sidebar on the right side of the firefox window instead of the left side.

Simply beautiful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a case where simple is beautiful. Of course you can also customize it (colors, font, etc) but it's almost perfect even with the default settings
