Sort Order? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Very useful add-on...but is it possible to change the sort order of the search engines?

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is just perfect Addon!! I recommend it to everyone who uses shortcuts a lot. I already made my own "shortcuts" to webistes that I need without any problem and it works really, really well. Thank you!

This is one of my Top3 features of my Top1 browser!! I will pay you as soon as I get paid!! Rock on!

Almost... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

So close!
Only issues is choosing an engine.

I have altogether too many 'shortcuts' to learn for so many things. Shortcuts are useful when they are provided as a choice, an alternate to a gui. This lets a user decide what features are most convenient to access via shortcuts, and commit those shortcuts to memory, and which features are adequately accessible thru the gui.

You know how a search bar works, there is a pull-down menu of search engines so the user can choose the active engine (or select all), with an icon indicating which search engine is currently selected. Two input fields is such a waste of space.

Must I decide between the usefulness of the added functionality, and the burden of adopting more shortcuts?
I seek a plugin which allows the search bar and address bar to share the same input field. This was so close, it may work for others, but I need to keep looking

I found this looking for an alternative to Chrome's omnibar, but this is much more than that!
I love that it shows suggestions while typing. You can use pretty much every search engine in existence, with whatever custom key you want.
I use it all the time :D

A few cons:
- The icon, which isn't that awesome-looking IMO, appears in the Awesomebar when searching
- The calculator is very limited, doesn't support anything like x^y, sqrt(x) or sin(x).
- The weather search engine doesn't seem to work at all for me.

I was a long-time user of Chrome and recently looked into switching to Firefox. A major factor for me was the ability to add custom searches to the URL bar. This ability isn't native to Firefox, but it should be. Thankfully, InstantFox exists. It is nearly as good as Chrome's custom search feature, although the GUI could be a bit simpler to look at and use. (Chrome definitely does this feature a lot better than InstantFox, but Firefox as a whole is my preference at the moment.)

I also desire the ability to hit tab after typing the keyword so that it brings up a tag that shows what website you are searching. For example, if my keyword for YouTube is "yt", I want to be able to type "yt" and hit tab, and then it prefixes the URL bar with "Search Youtube:" so that it is clear that a) the keyword exists and b) it is clear where the keyword is searching.

Really great add-on otherwise, and a must-have -- especially for users making the switch to Firefox.

Has too many problems and breaks the URL bar Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It makes the Enter/Return button in the URL bar and clicking an entry from your favorites or history not work;
Sometimes the drop-down list gets cut-off;
When you use the calculator, it permanently stays on that tab;
there isn't an option for predictions like there is for "Enable Instant" lets lets users apply a rule for all search engines instead of having to do it manually;
lastly, the most recently selected text stays in the right click menu even when you have nothing selected.

Other than these problems, it's a pretty good add-on.

With this addon enabled, the URL bar becomes unresponsive [FIXED] - 5 STARS Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this addon for years without a hitch. For the last two months in the Nightly builds (and probably other builds, including the official channel), having this addon enabled will make the URL bar unresponsive. By unresponsive, I mean to say that after typing a URL, one typically presses the `Enter` key and the browser will navigate to the provided URL; this does not happen. You can hit the `Enter` key fifty, eighty, even six hundred times and the caret will just continue to blink. I can't stand its smug, hypnotic flicker. The same unresponsiveness occurs when trying to press `Enter` on a bookmarked suggestion, or even when clicking on a bookmarked suggestion with the mouse/trackpad while the cursor hovers over. The addon itself continues to perform its functions, but it will otherwise totally cripple the rest of your browsing experience. The browser is essentially rendered useless with this addon enabled. I've had to switch to IE5, for lack of any suitable alternatives.

I sent the developer an email six weeks ago and have received no response. The reviews for the last two months indicate that this is a prevalent issue among, probably, all Nightly users, and perhaps other builds. There has been no response to any of the reviews that mention this issue, nor to any emails. It's assumed the developer is currently stuck in at least the first circle of hell, where Virgil has abandoned him for being such a godless, unresponsive developer.

This addon is an asset to Firefox. It's probably the best addon made anywhere, for any reason. I've been a handshake away from quitting the Internet altogether, because it's just that godly.

Developer, please come back. You bastard.

Dearest Desperate Without Nuanced Search

The developer has released an update, which not only restores the expected functionality of the base browser when the plugin is enabled, but restores order to the universe. You have just made my work day that much better.

Thank you, developer! I've pushed the rating from 1 to 5 stars, as that is its rightful rating.

Can't live without it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I was a Chrome user until recently when I started getting too many errors, and searching from the address bar (with auto-complete) was something I really missed when I switched to Firefox. But with this extension, once you turn on instant, I have the Chrome address bar search experience in Firefox.

A Few Suggestions Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great alternative to the omnibar addon! InstantFox is honestly the best addon of its type I've used so far. One suggestion though: can we remove the magnifying glass from the background of the suggestions? It looks out of place and gets in the way.

Also, it'd be nice if the suggestions would display the section that you're typing. For example, my URL bar is shorter because of userchromeCSS, so the suggestion is often cut off. If the suggestions would move to the right as you're typing, that would be incredibly useful.
