Translator doesn't work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It works when it feels like it. More than half the time the error message says that the translator does not support this language. Portuguese. It does not support Portuguese. Then 10 minutes later it does support. I'm curious who came up with the idea of using BING. It is the worst translator out there..When it DOES work it can only translate half of the message accurately rendering it useless. At the moment Google does the best job and they are horrible. I use Firefox when I use FB. I am a huge fan and supporter of FF and the Mozilla project. But this piece of sub-standard crap is way below FF's usual high standards.

It stopped working. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I'm not going to waste any more time with it.

Does not work.... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Nothing, no translation or links. Just a drop-down button on the top that does no translation regardless of what you chose.

Using FF V.39.0

Translate Status and Comments Options Greyed out! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

No link to translate the main status texts??!?!?! Half-assed job indeed....

Pretty good... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Some of the translations are a bit funny.
IDK if the original script was badly written, or something "got lost in translation"!! :)
Despite some of the weird results, it's still a good add-on.

Übersetzung Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Ich habe endlich einen Übersetzer in FB und er funktioniert auch in Version 29 von Firefox...leider eine Nachteil - er überzetzt nur Kommentare, keine Texten von Benutzern...ich brauche Portugiesisch, Italienisch und Französisch. Bin etwas enttäuscht.

Die Status-Texte...

... werden übersetzt, habe das gerade probiert. Welche Version des Add-Ons nutzen Sie?

Very nice work. One thing I want to mention that after each user log on to facebook, it ask for a like it. If an addon is founded as useful, people normally going to like it.

Wrong

Hi, the add-on doesn't ask users to like on Facebook. On first start, however, it opens a Getting Started page to help you learn use the add-on.

It didn't bother me so much that it doesn't yet recognize the languages I want to use it for (Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, French, and German). What killed it for me was the measurable performance hit Firefox takes when it's installed in the background. CPU usage when idling at a blank Google homepage without FT: 0 - 5%, with FT installed: 17 to 30%. No add-on is worth making the browser slow down like this. I hope this gets fixed, since this add-on looks like a good idea.

Doesn't work properly Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I installed the app and on some of the post the translation link appears but when I click on the link nothing happens or it appears that there was a translation made but none appears. the two languages are Turkish and Spanish to English.

First time I tried to use this and am not impressed. Went to translate one of my friends posts only to find out that her language is not supported. This app can't translate Icelandic. What a waste of my time.

It's almost there... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I'm using it for 15 minutes now, and I have found 2 issues:
1. It doesn't add the translation links automatically. Shame, because it makes me click the FB translate icon first, and then on each status I want to translate (can't you simply translate all languages to the one I've chosen in the options?).

2. It doesn't translate events. I would appreciate if you could add it in the future.

Thank you for the good work.

Thanks for your review!

1. I used to have it this way, but it slowed down many older PCs. Working on ways to improve that.

2. On my TODO. :)

Doesn't auto-add the translation links Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Why doesn't this add-on automatically embed the 'translation links' into Facebook? Almost all of my friends post in another language, I don't want to have to click the button and then click 'Load links' every single time I refresh or load a new page.. that's really annoying... Also Bing is a horrible translation tool... Google is so much more accurate.. you should change providers, and after every translation you don't need to add the text "Translation provided by Facebook Translation blah blah blah" we know what app we are using, we DID install it...

Leijonasisu, I basically agree with your points, but I learnt that not all users are "educated" like you. People do NOT always know which service/add-on/whatever translated the text, so I just display that info to minimize confusion on Facebook's very own Translate links.

I used to use Google Translate, but had to switch to Bing Translate cos Google started to charge for their service earlier this year. An option would be to make the add-on a premium add-on to be able to pay for Google but I think it's better to keep the add-on free.

Blessings of Language Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Absolutely Awesome! Although I enjoy three languages, I have friends whose FaceBook posts are in yet another language. What a joy to read first hand what they say. A Blessing. Cenam

DEFINITELY A RECOMMENDED ADD-ON.... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great, I didn’t know that there are this cool add-ons in Firefox. I rarely used my Firefox because I don’t have the knowledge about this things, I’m Off to use my Firefox browser.
With my passion to meet other people from different parts of the world have truly made me a big fan of Facebook. Having this interest and aim in mind, I surely need to have an intelligent tool for translating purpose. And then I have unexpectedly found Facebooktranslate add-on. ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE....

Kudos to the developer Oliver Schlöbe..
This add-on would really helps me to do my task easier and faster.

nice addon but high cpu usage Rated 1 out of 5 stars

on mac osx 10.7.3 even when not in facebook, cpu usage of firefox with only this addon enabled is 9-10% when idle. vs 0.1 without it enabled...

Hey gil levy, I'm aware of that issue, even though this only affects a small number of users. I have, however, no idea what exactly causes the issue as only a few users experience these slowdowns/exceptionally high loads. I've had my add-on checked dozens of times by the Mozilla editors without any issues, but I'm constantly trying to improve stability and user experience. Thank you.

Bardzo fajne narzędzie, które w miarę dobrze tłumaczy. Nie robi tego idealnie, ale da się zrozumieć.
