Why was Snap Links Plus created?
The add-on was created by Pedro savred Fonseca, but since he disappeared after publishing version 0.0.4, Atreus and MumblyJuergens adopted his work and established a new project at mozdev.org in May 2008. However, the project did not kick-off. In December 2008 Tommi Rautava joined the project and after that wheels started rolling. The add-on got a new name, Snap Links Plus, and the first release was published in January 2009. In May 2011 Clint Priest joined the project and since then he has made huge quality improvements on the add-on. In August 2011 the reborn add-on came back to AMO!
In early 2016, Clint Priest started development on Version 3; a complete rewrite from the ground up as a web extension. Many of the existing features of v2 have been re-created, but much work remains to be done.
What's next for Snap Links Plus
There are a number of user requests which we plan to implement as time permits. Additional maintainers are welcome to join in on the fun, even if you're new to add-on development, I'd be happy to help point you to some resources or be a resource myself for questions.
If you have a feature request please share it with us and we will evaluate if it fits into scope of Snap Links Plus. You can post an enhancement request on our issue tracker.
