I really like this reader, it has most of the features a "normal" user would be looking for.
Some "quick wins" that would be nice:
- Show the year in the article timestamp
- Adjustable time for article retention
- When clicking on a feed title in an aggregated list, expand the containing folder when drilling down to that feed
Some "power" features that would be nice would be:
- Saved searches/filters
- Make all settings customizable for individual feeds
- A "reading pane" so you can see the article list and article content at the same time
Thank you for this great reader, for now I think it is the best Firefox-based reader available, with "Brief" being a close 2nd.
This extension works very well for maintaining searchable text/content history, which is what I was really looking for ... and is frankly embarrassing that Firefox doesn't have this feature built-in yet as do most of the other major browsers.
The prefs GUI for Boomtango is a little buggy, some of the things you can't toggle on and off -- for instance, you can check the "Enable Thumbnails" option but then it's magically reset back to being unchecked. And you seemingly can't edit the Blacklist either.
This would get 5 starts if those bugs were fixed, it would be nice if someone savvy with extension authoring could pick up maintenance of this one!
Otherwise, being able to search your text history is great. I'm concerned about the sluggishness and database size growing over time but for now (only been using it 1 day) it's working OK.
Btw, these observations are on Firefox 8.0.1.
Very useful extension, thank you for creating and publishing it.
1.1.3 is causing major performance issues (pages slow to load, and often timing out) on my Windows 7 machine however. Firefox 4.0.1.
Didn't have these issues with 1.1.2.
Seems to do what it does well... however I just don't find it that useful over any of the myriad other note-taking methods one might employ. This just adds some convenience since it's in your browser.
Also, I echo the other comments about this extension breaking your toolbar customizations when you install it. This is very irritating.
And then it does it again when you uninstall it.
Very nice add-on, when it works. Unfortunately it can't be trusted without cross-checking its results because it displays wrong prices so frequently.
Example: ASIN B0047ACVUQ. Real price $60.95, TheTrackter claims $35.99. I have no idea where it got this figure. Have seen other incorrect prices as well.
Also doesn't seem to sample frequently enough to catch price changes that are noticed by other, similar add-ons/sites.
Great extension. Does exactly what it says.
I hope this extension will continue to be maintained. Works fine up through at least 4.0b8, the compatibility should really be updated to reflect this.
Excellent; must-have.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.2).
This is a great extension. It is the first one I've tried that has made reading of newsfeeds an easy task without introducing too much bulk. I especially like that it builds on Firefox's built-in Live Bookmarks rather than creating yet another way to manage feed lists. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168-signed).
