Better JTV (Justin.TV / Twitch.TV Enhancements)

quick and painless Rated 5 out of 5 stars

just makes all chans load faster and less cluttered, combined with abp/element hider you can pretty much make the entire site look exactly how you want (remember to disable for broadcasters who run ads, please!). never had a problem with this extension on jtv/twitch since forever.

only thing I'm confused about is the custom emotes, they don't seem to be published anywhere so really what is the point of this feature, if we don't know what the codes are? really needs more work to better promote this extension and its features.

Grab and Drag

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

very useful extension but still annoyances to be worked out. besides the ones already mentioned, using the right mouse button to drag will constantly trigger the context menu from scrolling operations (maybe due to a worn out mouse), whether or not you use bar emulation mode. using left mouse button is out, since it interferes with even more operations and rendering, which is understandable but really limits the functionality of this great addon.

to be fully usable, compat mode needs to be extended further (to avoid flash applets and such), with more event detection to prevent interfering with these buttons in their basic functions.

RSS Ticker

very useful but still needs work Rated 4 out of 5 stars

this extension is one of a kind and very useful, which makes me wonder why no one else has done something similar. I keep it out of necessity but really wish efficiency was better, the performance is very poor even on the most up to date hardware. it skips and pauses, lagging the entire ui of firefox every so often (eg. scrolling and textboxes) on all multicore setups of mine, no matter what the cpu preferences are set to.

other than that it works as intended, adding and removing live bookmarks is simple and it works, though sometimes unreliable this is easily fixed by disabling/re-enabling the extension.

besides performance/reliability improvement, only feature I really think would be necessary to add is some sort of filter. many feeds aggregate or combine all their categories and push them in bulk, this works for full featured readers but obviously not compatible with tickers that have no filtering. safe to say most users don't actually want the whole feed most of the time when this is the case, but for this type of feed there is usually headers or prefixes seperating the categories. so even a simple regexp type of filter would be sufficient, for the user to designate some and/or/not strings to include/disclude and minimise the clutter.

the one and only compact theme on mozilla so far that is truly compact and good looking, always come back to this one no matter how many I try.

anyone thinking of submitting a theme to this section, if you want to call it "compact" take a good look here first, this is what compact means. not "smallish buttons surrounded with useless pixels and bezel effects copied from osx that went out of style 10 years ago".

dead simple to use, hit a key to hide what you want, press it again and it's undone. also has other useful features that work in combination with bookmarks and such, very convenient. absolutely essential to save screen realestate, for those who like to view streaming sites and such that use pop out windows for video and chat.

only thing that needs improvement imo is hotkey assignment, and app behaviour for the 'hide all' function. certain combinations of hotkeys don't work sometimes for no apparent reason, but they're reliable when you find ones that do. the 'hide all' function does not remember what toolbars you had visible before hiding them, this would be nice to have, so that there is a quick toggle between custom/no toolbar view.

oustanding features, not everyone just wants to "nuke" all their cookies when they have functional ones needed for trusted sites and apps, no other plugins I know of that allow you to fully manage your cookies this way.

only problem I can see so far is the lso manager, ui definitely needs work. any select/deselect/status change will reset the view, very tedious when you have lots of cookies to manage at once, so easiest way for now is to nuke first then apply protection for accepted sites and apps one by one. there is also no ctrl/shift multi-select function to change protection for more than one entry, many of them have multiple directories that we should be able to set together in one click.

otherwise a great plugin that gives us a browser solution when we don't need/want an external app for this.

Reverse IP Lookup

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

does exactly what I was looking for, highlight an address and just look it up, instead of some plugin-as-a-bookmark/search bar that you could have copy-pasted to in the first place. very fast and light, good start. some issues to work on:

- auto close with focus not compatible for xmouse users, consider some kind of statusbar element instead of a window
- window pops up with min x/y size for me, had to manually resize to see the contents
- would like a setting to select which query data we need, and maybe expand with more info like isp/netspeed
