I attempted to uninstall this only because I thought it was causing problems with moving around my well set up status bar buttons and I find it CANNOT be removed. Therefore, any positive feelings I had about it are now diminished. I hope you fix this problem cause it might have been useful if it didn't cause so many bugs.
Reply: "it" refers to this extension. As this extension caused problems I wanted to remove it to rule it out as the cause. Since I can't remove "it"/this extension that is a problem. I hope that this further information clarifies what was meant by "it". I also hope you're able to get this fixed.
The pop up that is supposed to show what is blocked, only pops up on 1 out of 10 pages. When it does pop up it shows nothing being blocked. I assume nothing is blocked when it doesn't pop up.
And since this doesn't work I assume facebook disconnect and google disconnect don't work either. Maybe when it's improved (so that it actually works) I'll try it again.
This makes ff hang even more than it used to. I didn't think that would be possible. And what is with that liveshare thing? This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.7).
I like the idea of visual bookmarks. This one is not the one I'll be sticking with though. It takes at least 30 - 45 seconds for the viewmark window to come up when you click on the star to create a bookmark. When it's ff handling that it takes less than a second. I hope that you can fix this annoying flaw.
I'm sure I'll be able to find a better one. Hopefully my bookmarks will be left when I uninstall this.
This doesn't really work. I tried to preview a few different things, but the window that popped up never showed anything in it. I probably would have given it more of a chance but the constant clicking was annoying. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).
A basic link preview to let you view the link to see if you really want to follow it. A little magnifying glass (which you have to hover over to see the link preview) shows up at the end of the link after hovering over the link for a while. The only issue I had was that sometimes it takes a while to be able to see the link preview.
It doesn't matter how long you hover over a link and press control the mythical preview window doesn't show up. Very disappointing. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.rev144).
It doesn't quite work. The pages never load in the preview window and when you change the load time to 20 seconds and above (from 10) it just sits there spinning for 60 seconds. Also, the pin button is there inconsistently. It's usually not there, except for 1 out of 10 times. Maybe I'll try this again once it's improved.
The only thing that I like about this is that it uses less memory than cool previews (which I will unfortunately have to go back to, unless you have a better link preview suggestion), that surprises me though since lazarus form recovery uses so much memory that it crashes ff.
I like this well enough and it is fun, I just found myself not using it very much. I hate the time limit, perhaps it could be made longer or it could be removed. I have to wonder about the privacy issue as well, this can be used on any web page so who's to say there isn't a record kept of all that information. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2).
When you have this set to open in a new tab (the only way it's more useful than bookmarks) it slows the page load down to a quarter of a second (with a blank tab) to ten seconds. The pictures don't work right when you add them. You have to sit and change the settings for a picture over and over and over just to have it not work. I want to be able to stretch the picture to the frame and have it work or move to another. Like speed dial (in opera) does, especially since you're claiming the picture feature is like speed dial (btw, it's NOT). And it leaves behind junk in about:config (doesn't clean up after itself when removed). This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.3).
I started my firefox and walked away, when I came back 15 minutes later it still wasn't up. I disabeled this addon and my firefox started in seconds.
The idea of this addon is good, however I think that it would be nice if it was customizable (in addition to not making firefox unusable).
It works alright. It could be better. I do like that you added the function to the context menu. That's nice.
And for curiosity's sake: the first site that found anything the few times I used this was the internet archive. Coralcdn and google and yahoo cache never find anything (not so far).
In the last few days I've been trying this I have been finding it very handy. This is great for those sites that have a blindingly white page and a video you want to watch.
As for the improvements: Sticking the button on the bottom doesn't work at all. It doesn't matter if it's bottom - right, bottom - left, right - bottom or left - bottom. None of them work, though all of the other spots do. Sadly, they're all on the top. Which interferes with the buttons on the page you're on. With this button on top I find it hard not to go back to the main page, or another page on the site. This makes it really hard to watch a movie when they're site is broken, and as far as the sites is concerned you need to start the show (commercials and all) over again. To remedy this, I would fix that problem, but I would also add an optional toolbar button (NOT a toolbar since extra toolbars are evil) and a status bar button (my ultimate preference if I got my choice).
Thank you for the add-on. Even with the improvements it needs it's still nice.
Edit: Okay, lack of understanding can happen so I'll try to simplify it. The bottom button doesn't show up on pages no matter which option I choose that has bottom in it. You should add a status bar button. Thanks for reading the review, I hope the simplified version helped. :)
I installed this because it sounded like a good thing, but what I don't like is once you set a restriction/permission value for a cookie there is no database of these cookies (similar to how noscript, abp and ghostery have something you can go and look at if you change your mind about a site) and you are forced to visit the site again which would result in happening upon the site again, unless it's a site you visit regularly. It's a good idea but it needs some work.
Edit: Okay, that's there (also a bit embarrassing for me since I clearly didn't look hard enough), it does open ff's cookie manager. It doesn't tell me which are edited by cookie monster, better privacy or are my own. But that's probably a problem with ff's cookie manager. Guess I'll try it again and update my review then. I have added two stars, one for pointing out how to find that without pointing out it was my own fault (which I freely admit), and for having that feature there.
This does seem to help a tiny bit with the lag while typing in the address bar some of the time. This absolutely does not help with start up time and actually hangs the browser for quite a while when the places database is being "vacuumed" which is quite disappointing.
This does help me remember appointments and things to do without hogging all my resources (as some other programs I've tried have).
The only things I'd recommend are when you set up a weekly repeat appointment that it appears in the calendar for more than a month. Also, when you set up a custom appointment it only appears in the list and the calendar twice (the default). It would be nice if this would appear in the calendar for as long as you have it, while keeping the list clutter free at the default two. I hate looking at the complete list of all the repeats just so I can ensure that I don't mis-schedule something because if I leave this on the default then it looks like I have nothing in a month or two and then in a month or two I discover the conflict. :(
This extension would be five stars if the session restore feature worked correctly. The session restore feature does not restore crashed sessions well, and since firefox crashes a lot this is something that is very important. I have lost many tabs due to the fact that the session restore feature will restore a crashed something from days or hours before instead of restoring the from the crash that happened minutes ago ago instead of from the crash that happened minutes ago or even two or three hours ago. And the last good session is usually from 4-5 days ago or more. This is really disappointing, especially since I'm having to dig through my history to restore all of the tabs I had opened. Perhaps I need to use firefox's session restore, since it actually works to restore the tabs and windows that crashed minutes ago...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.8.4). As of today static.xmarks.com:443, api.xmarks.com:443, cloud.xmarks.com:443 come up as invalid certificates when xmarks attempts to sync. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.9.2).
It would be nice if it didn't cause ff to be completely unusable (freezing ff every ten minutes and that happens for 15 - 20 minutes). Also, it's a pain to set up.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1).
Whenever my browser starts this is constantly disabled. Also, when I go to google search it just causes an error with the page. I do like the ability to shorted the enabled/disabled message, perhaps you could add something so that ppl can change the color or just change the color so that it can be seen in darker browsers. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.20).
