Used to Work Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It doesn't seem to work with Firefox 37.0.1. It used to work before the update. Can't find the download button any more in youtube. It used to work very well. Please update to be compatible with version 37.0.1.

Using this addon for a little time, yet it has proven its efficiency amongst all that kind of "youtube downloader addons". It's very handy, simple and terribly fast, covers a lot of formats and also serves as a format converter for any local video/audio file ; that too is amazingly well done, you can even fusion audio and video files.

I had some compatibility issues with music .m4a files from this addon with certain programs, and just had to drag the file into its converter (ffmpeg installed) and it gave me a variable bitrate .mp3 file in the same folder the second later.

Very recommended if you like to keep some Youtube videos locally and are into 'underground'music that's not necessarly available everywhere and the authors don't give download links for their musics.

The addon can even be used as a fast and efficient converter through your browser if you need so.

I have used a lot of "youtube downloaders" kind of addons for FireFox over the years and I had to register an account and make a review because this one is by far the best I ever had. As I said, it's efficient, simple and fast. It's light and as far as I know doesn't contain any ad, and we better hope it will be kept up to date for a very long time and doesn't become like others losing its charms while gaining heavy ads and annoying added steps for one thing.

So I give it a 4/5 stars. Perhaps nothing is perfect but it's actually mainly because I don't have enough of knowledge into video and audio files to make a judgement on this. All I can say is that I wouldn't drop it anytime soon nor come back to another addon, it met my expectations and even more.

Only very little problem maybe because I use it under Linux, when choosing the target directory in the options it selects for example ///mnt/data instead of /mnt/data. It's a problem only when trying to open target folder from the app but if I go to the directory through my files browser app I can find the video and working!

Anyway I've installed it today and it's working so great! Fluid, complete, efficient. FOSS rocks! (once again)

At first I thought this was too good to be true: An ad-free, intrusive-free, direct download, no 3rd party site add-on that even merges videos and audios! But it is true!!

Of course the ffmpeg is needed, but the add-on fluidly places this in the Firefox folder. No fuss!

So happy to download 480p and 1080p videos again!!!

Update Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I really love this add-on. As opposed to all others this is the only one which allows 1080p download, even though in dash form. It can later be joined with audio. However lately I find that it does not allow the 720p 192k download anymore. It doesn't show it. Either the option is gone due to some streaming changes or the app needs an update. Disregarding this, it is a very good app unlike others.

Great Addon, Allows great choices for downloading content off of YouTube. Some bugs Though. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It does have some glitches. Links for downloading videos from Google severs make it through private browsing. I don't know how that happens, but that is a very bad thing. A minor annoyance is that downloads are sent by default to desktop, ignoring Firefox preferences. It seems to also not be able to use the default download button provided by Firefox and instead adds another button to clutter up space.

Love it, but... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love it, but i wish there was a way to use it not only for YouTube, as it the best plugin now that Video DownloadHelper has gone to pieces and the fact that the imo second best choice: FlashGot also have some problems, mainly in the memory department. If there is such a way to force it to function with other websites, i would be delighted if someone could enlighten me on the subject.
