Not recommended Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This add-on is not recommended because it does not always work.
Please contact me with some examples of where it doesn't work. Thanks.
Oh dear, what a pity Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Thought I had found something neat and simple, but not so. Everything gets sent to a Google Translate page which prevents my operating on the source page. In practical terms, unfortunately, it is useless.

This extension worked for what I needed it for but it also caused several major problems within FireFox even when not in use. It made the buttons on YouTube videos disappear. It caused several major loading loops when trying to load several different webpages. It crashed the browser once. As soon as I removed the extension everything went back to normal. Will be looking elsewhere, sorry!
I'm really sorry about your poor experience. I honestly find it hard to believe that those types of problems could be caused by this addon. Translate This doesn't interact with webpages at all (so it can't make buttons on YT disappear).
It's possible that there is something unique about your config that caused Firefox to behave incorrectly. Feel free to reach out to me with any additional information you think of (browser version, operating system, other addons installed, etc...)
Working perfectly for me with the latest Firefox version Rated 5 out of 5 stars
By default all Google translation opens up in a new tab. That is the way I like it. That can be changed in the addon's options. Right-click any page to translate it via the link in the context menu. Or select text first and click the relevant link in the context menu. The translation icon at the top of the Firefox window is also working fine for translating full pages. That icon can be moved around via Firefox customization (right-click the top of Firefox, and click "customize" in the context menu). In the past that icon sometimes did not show up right away after installation, and only showed up after restarting Firefox. So if problems, try restarting Firefox to see if it helps. This user has 4 previous reviews of this add-on.
Doesn't even show up. Rated 1 out of 5 stars
No Icon on the Menu Bar. No "Translate this" when you highlight any text. What's goin' here? Consider this add-on removed. Thanks for wasting my time.

Version 3.5 works but pictures are missing on some sites on the translated page Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This version 3.5 works, but: regarding page translation: I noticed the pictures of some of the translated sites are missing.
Example (german to english): http://www.vorwaerts.de/artikel/vorwaerts-1932-hitler-warnte
(in "Google Translator for Firefox" the pictures are there)
I have zero control over the page translations that Google generates.
quit working Rated 3 out of 5 stars
It wouldn't work nor update anymore in Firefox 40 via normal channels, but...
I was finally able to download the latest v3.5.0 version from here:
Firefox refused to allow a normal download, but I was able to get it via the rightclick "save link as" context option.
- close and reopen Firefox
- press Alt key for menu bar
- click the File menu, "Open file..." (Ctrl-O), and find the above downloaded .xpi file.
Firefox then installed it OK (after another warning!).
Things appeared to return to normal, but when I tried to translate the following page from czech, got an error (from google, apparently) saying the page was too big to translate.
So I had to use a different addon (S3.Google Translator) which rendered the page into English OK.
Looks like the Translate This author may have to do a little more work to revive it completely, as well as try to keep Firefox from dragging their proverbial *ss. In the meantime it appears to work OK for translating selected text, and possibly smaller webpages, although I didn't test it further..
As noted, this error is directly from Google. There is nothing that I can do on my end to force it to translate that page.
Mozilla still needs to review version 3.5.0, so use it at your own risk.
One of my favorite add-ons, but alas... Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Doesn't work in 40.3. 5 stars when it's working again. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168-signed).
Updated version is waiting approval by Mozilla. Please check the description for a beta download.

How does one actually use this? Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Apologies for being thick, but I've no idea how to use this. There's no toolbar button, and the Ctrl-Alt-T thing doesn't work. So I'm looking at a Spanish webpage - what do I do now?!This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52-signed).

There isn't any "Translate This" entry in the right-click menu or toolbar button available. The author commented about a fix for Firefox 40, but the current beta version is 41. Developers should target beta, alpha, or even nightly versions... That's what they're there for. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (184.108.40.206-signed).
You do realize that Mozilla actually has to approve updates right? I can't just flick a switch.
