Brilliant, but with no groups support, I can't use it Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Panorama/Groups is limited visually, and this would be a nice enhancement. But, 50 tabs opening at once is harsh.

On firefox 9.0.1, "Enable thumbnail caching" will make firefox crashing frequently.
Please check it.
Thank you.

Panorama support please Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Generally very well designed (bug-free, decent visually, does everything it sets out to, plus a few unexpected surprises like double-click to open new tab). But it doesn't support Firefox 4's Panorama - it doesn't distinguish between different tab groups so what was neatly organised now swamps the showcase views with 30 or so tabs so you can't distinguish one thumbnail from another. Better if you have separate views for each group, and/or colour code the different groups (like for windows) - then I would give you 5 stars

In Firefox 3 this was a useful add-on with a nice range of display options (tab, sidebar, window) but in Firefox 4 it clashes with the new built-in feature Panorama. It hijacks the down arrow on the tab bar, preventing the display of the Tab Groups menu, and its functionality now seems redundant. Perhaps it could be modified so as to work in conjunction with Panorama and to offer complementary functionality.

SMALL issue Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The plug in works Great but in FF4 it erases one option from the small arrow besides the tabs( TABS FROM OTHER COMPUTERS). And if you don't have the menu bar visible - there's no way to call the option !!. would it be possible to add to the showcase ????check https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/803826

TheTech438 is right. To make your add-on a lot more useful and make me want to use it over Firefox's own built in feature, can you please add a search bar to it? It would be nice to be able to search any open tabs. Thanks!!

You can get a feature very like this that is built into Firefox. You can see the tab thumbs and close buttons, there is also a tab search. YOU DO NOT NEED THIS ADDON TO DO THAT! All you have to do is go to about:config, click I'll be carefull, then in the filter put "alltabs" then the first one will be "browser.allTabs.previews" right click and hit toggle to change this to true. Then were you would usually see the list all tabs button will be a button with four squares, click this to see all tabs. Enjoy!

Note: I put five stars even tho I have not used it.

It certainly allows you to see what tabs/windows are active and you can easily close the ones you don't want without cycling through them. Kudos.

Think it's ready for updating? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been using "Showcase" for quite some time and it's proven a very useful add-on. Very good choice for monitoring multiple tabs, quickly finding the one you need, but most importantly: it is fast and easy on the resources. However, with the release of FF4.0b4 the Mozilla team has integrated a "Group Your Tabs" feature. It is quite an interesting idea which, in my opinion, should be explored further. The main problems with it are quite the opposite of those things mentioned above: it's hard on the PC. But since the developers have provided such an opportunity I see no reason not to use it. By combining the "Showcase" and the "Group Your Tabs" views, this add-on could reach the next step in it's evolution.

Every Election Day I sit and try to update EVERY Politics window every few seconds. Now, what I really need (and I suspect a few others) is a system that'll show 2-20 (if you have the space) windows and treat every one as live, with updates of one after the next

Firefox Showcase vs Foxtabs Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I was searching the Mozilla Add-Ons for something like the IE Quick Tabs, and found Firefox Showcase and Foxtabs. I installed one at work and one at home. Both are great, way better than Firefox "List All Tabs" default function (and better than Internet Explorer Quick Tabs feature).

Especially cool is that both show tabs from all open Firefox windows, not just current (make sure you select an All Windows display option in Showcase) - this greatly increases the utility and I no longer have the problem of trying to find a specific tab among 3 different windows. Both easily display 40 tabs (with a quick mouse-wheel spin), I haven't really tried more than that.

Foxtabs
*Shortcut hog. I say this lightly, can disable specific shortcuts, and Foxtabs is very easy to open when you want it. Left+Right click, Right click plus spin the mousewheel, Ctrl+Tab, Ctrl+Q (this is what IE uses also)... and others each a little different function.
*Find is a good feature, but usually not necessary - can find your tab visually (unless you use one of the fluffy aesthetic layouts like Row)
*Grouping is nice (show only google tabs for instance), but not essential
*Can turn off Foxtabs if less than X tabs are open (so Ctrl+Tab does the usual).
*Flashier, six layouts, reflections and 3D options, but only Wall and Grid layouts make any sense IMHO.
*Minor, but I like the little tab counter in lower left

Vs.

Firefox Showcase
*Can select multiple tabs for bookmarking and other functions --> Merge to New Window rocks (eg select several Christmas shopping tabs in Showcase, and merge them to a new window, so you can separate them from your metallurgy research tabs).
*More thumbnail sizing options (pixel size and percentage).
*This is a pain - doesn't come with any shortcuts to open it, but can be added by installing KeyConfig. A shortcut is needed because the List All Tabs button is very small and sometimes far away (right side of tab bar). When you do install KeyConfig the default shortcuts are no good. F12 - Really? my right hand is on the mouse. So I added Ctrl+Q. I wanted to add Left+Right click, but don't seem to be able to add mouse shortcuts with KeyConfig.
*Default settings work fine (tho I forget what they were now), but I took about an hour to figure out the numerous menu options to make it better.
*Sidebar scroll is an extra layout that makes sense for some uses, especially w/wide monitor).
*Puts colored borders around tabs located in same windows, not easy to see but potentially helpful if you look for it
*Didn't realize at first but also has Find, just start typing in Showcase.

Conclusion: You can't go wrong with either Add-On. Foxtabs is a little cooler out of the box (mainly because better shortcuts), just select Grid or Wall. But Showcase wins because of Merge to New Window.
