Not working with 48.0 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

May have been not working for awhile, but I just noticed it.

Don't work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I don't really care why this doesn't work and CANNOT see a 'increase incrementally with each letter' option.. I just weant a search bar that shows what I have typed in.

Didn't work for a while, fixed. (FFv46) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I couldn't get clear after submit working, so I had it disabled for quite some time, as this is the feature I wanted this plugin for. Turns out, theres a conflict with Classic Theme Restorer, and I have fixed its functionality by setting it up, then disabling and reenabling CTR with reboots each step. No issue with it stopping, yet.

does not work atm, be patient. very patient :-) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Well, it worked great for all the years, but stopped as mozilla made big changes to the whole firefox layout going to the smart-/tablet-world... it must be really hard for the developers of "our" addons to keep up with mozillas changes, so I guess, it'll take a while for this neat addon to work again. If ever....

Not working with Firefox 43.0.

No longer works in FF 42, FF 43 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Searchbar Autosizer won't work on Firefox 42 & FF 43
The developer Kevin Cox invites anyone to help patch the add-on (see his reply to this review)
I am not a coder, so instead I help convey Kevin's message.

Sorry, SBA has been unmaintained for a while, I have been trying to make small bug fixes but FF 42 brings large changes. If anyone wishes to update SBA to support newer versions of FF their patches will be accepted gratefully.

Works nicely here with Firefox 37.0.2 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Though difficulties to use the add-on's settings' assistance (the "virtual" Searchbox resizer is blocked). Also I had slight problems a week ago which I have no more once I refuse assistance after install ("Cancel" button) and restart Firefox immediately, even if the add-on is built to run without restart. I think many so called "No Restart" add-ons integrate better to the browser after a restart, but that's only my opinion.

So, I do hope the developer continues focusing on this add-on because it's really helpful, well thought.

Ive used it since 2006, but FF isn't what it used to be, the great ones are falling everywhere.

Great for FireFox 33 and older - no good in FireFox 34 and newer. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This add-on used to be at the top of my "must have" list. Unfortunately, changes in FireFox 34 and later have caused this add-on to no longer work correctly, and the developer has stated he is no longer maintaining it.

long time needed!

Great, but in need of an update! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This simple, but effective add-on has always been one of my favorites. Unfortunately, it doesn't play well with Firefox 34. When set to resize "on every keypress," the new dropdown box jumps left and right with every keypress. I do hope there will be an update to fix this, although I have read that the original author (Kevin Cox) is no longer maintaining this add-on.

It's a great add-on, but it's veeery broken with 34b11.

Strange behaviour with Firefox 29.0.1 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

since updating to the newes Firefox, Searchbar Autosizer shows a strange behaviour while typing searches. The suggestion popup doesn't stay under the searchbar. It moves to a position under the second tab and jumps back when I add a space in the search.
In former versions of firefox there was no such issue.
Can you fix it?
Edit: issue has gone since Firefox update 30.

Dosn't work anymore after update Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm not sure if it is cause of the new version of the add-on or by the update of Firefox from 29.0 to 29.0.1 but when I started Firefox today the searchbar was gone, after adding it back it just behaves like the normal searchbar – the addon has not effect.
I hope this is gone be fixed, since I love this add-on!

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. With the new versions of firefox there is trouble when the customize toolbar menu is opened. Try restarting firefox and see if autosizer works then.

If that does not fix your problem please submit a bug report so that we can help fix this issue.

What happened? Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I love this addon, but now it doesn't work. In place of the search field is just a long string of gray icons. Please fix it and I would love to revise my review.

We are working on this issue. You can track the progress at the bug report below.

The latest update 3.0.1 broke the addon. Why is testing not done before something is released as production version? Else if this is beta, it should at least be marked so!

Have submitted a bug report on GitHub. Fix and earn 5 stars.

To be fair, the addon is otherwise great, especially with not requiring a restart.

Hello Hash,

I'm sorry that the update broke your setup. I don't know where you submitted the bug report as we don't have a github tracker but if you could create an issue on launchpad I would love to fix it.

Cheers, Kevin

Excellent idea, works well Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Only found out about this yesterday after submitting my own script to userstyles, doing a very similar thing, but this' still a smart solution to have more room for the urlbar.

My script cant autoresize, but has expand on hover and is still partially compatible with this, if you choose clear search query after submitting, which isnt the best trade off cause checking last search query is why youd want expand on hover most of the time

Anyway added instructions to use that script with this addon installed if anyones interested to try it. In practice the main difference other than the trade off is when its shrunk, you see the active search engine icon instead of this addons Go button. Can check it out here
