Unfortunately does not work in Firefox 40.0a1

Super helpful for those learning Chinese. I like how they show the pinyin too for pronunciation. Translations have been accurate in my experience.

So excellent. I love the instantaneous pinyin and English translation on mouseover, for single characters as well as phrases. The add-on is just what I need when I'm reading Chinese webpages and it's visually appealing to boot. Well done.

I can't see any English definitions, only characters and pronunciation. Does anyone know why?

Super Plugin, schnell und unkompliziert und läuft!
Bei manchen "Verbesserungsvorschlägen" in den Reviews hier muss ich mir teilweise schon an den Kopf fassen. Das (mit)denken kann das Plugin einem natürlich nicht abnehmen.
Es ist im Vergleich zum MDBG Reader natürlich inhaltlich schlanker, aber dafür funktioniert es, und kostet nichts.

Great add-on, if only it would be updated more regularly and if the developer actually replied to e-mails once in a while.

The interface has also become more cumbersome due to the fact that multiple languages are in the same plugin. Activating via right click now requires going into a submenu.

Needs minor improvements Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It can be difficult to see the tone marks and difficult to distinguish for those who are still learning Chinese. An easy solution: Have the tone marks colored and correspond with the tone colors. Also increase the size of the tone marks just slightly so that they're more obvious.

It would be nice if users could change the colors of the definitions as well. Though this is not nearly as important the above suggestion.

Help? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This used to be my favorite add-on, but a few days after updating to the new version, the program seemed to crash.
Though everything is installed, my icon is blank & even starting to program through "tools" doesn't help. When I went to change the icon on my toolbar, one of the perakun options is this messed up collection of about 15 navigation icons, none of which work either.
It's just not running anymore, though everything seems to be in place. Reinstalling it doesn't seem to help. Anyone know how to fix this?
(Sorry, but the 'help' section of the website is impossible to use. literally.)

Great help for learning Chinese!
Please could you make the pop up box bigger, so older folks( I am 64) can read the Chinese characters and the tone marks better by adding a switch in the options menu.
Thank you for your effort
Pat

Good stuff - bring back some old features! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on! It helps a lot with my Chinese study. One unfortunate change in the latest version is that we no longer appear to have fine control over how data is transferred to the clipboard. There will always be tone numbers, even if tone marks are selected in the pop-up view. Other than that, great!

Great Add On Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great product, Justin. Please consider making an option to enlarge the text (greatly) and use a white background. Chinese characters are hard enough to see, but for older eyes and visually impaired, a white background and an option for large chars would be fantastic! Thanks for doing this for Firefox.

Disappointed Rated 2 out of 5 stars

The font size is too small. Should have make it an option to make change the font size like that one in Google Chrome.

Great product! Use it daily. Have you ever considered a chinese-chinese popup dictionary? After a few years of studying chinese, many students like to begin using chinese dictionaries. As far as I know, chinese-chinese dictionary software doesn't exist anywhere, but I think many users would be interested. maybe it would be simple to create, because it's not a translator, but merely an electronic dictionary.

Update for Firefox 4.0 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

1. Download "Peraperakun2.1.xpi" from http://downloads.mozdev.org/peraperakun/Peraperakun2.1.xpi (right click; save link as; and select a destination folder).
2. Open the ".xpi" file (double clic) > "Select a program from a list of installed programs" > select "WinRAR archiver" > unmark "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" > "Ok"
3. Open the file "install.rdf" (double clic) > "Select a program from a list of installed programs" > select "Notepad" > unmark "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" > "Ok"
4. In "<!-- Firefox -->", edit the "maxVersion" line from 3.* to 4.*: <em:maxVersion>4.*</em:maxVersion>
5. In Notepad: "File" > "Save"
6. In WinRAR: "File install.rdf was modified. Do you..." > "Yes"
7. Close Notepad and WinRAR.
8. Repeat exactly the same for the dictionary ("Chinese-English Dictionary" in my case)
9. Go to Firefox > "Add-ons" > "Extensions" > Remove "Perapera-kun" and "dictionary".
10. Drag and drop the news ".xpi" files to Firefox.
11. Install the extensions and restart Firefox.
12. Voila!

Save Word List Function Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The Perakun 2.1 version upgrade seems to have broken the word list sidebar. It was working in 2.0.

You can find the Perakun 2.0 installation file (XPI file) here (click on "Perapera-kun 2.0").
http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/23226-perapera-kun-20/page__view__findpost__p__190288
Perapera-kun 2.0

To reinstall 2.0 instead of 2.1
1. Uninstall 2.1 (you can leave the dictionary in place)
2. Download 2.0 XPI file
3. Open the 2.0 XPI file in Firefox (File->Open File)
4. Make sure you have one of the Perakun dictionaries installed as before

Now you should be able to save a you are looking up by clicking 's'. The word list sidebar should show up. You can export your word list in the sidebar by selecting the words you want and clicking on "Entries".

This is a very good popup translator. It shows the translation really quick when hoovering over a character.
Maybe you can include the "color by tone" function from this plugin https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13643/
