Monitor Master adds graphical controls to the Firefox context menu's for toolbars, tabs and links. These controls depict your screen(s) plus all open Firefox windows, thus enabling you to position and merge browser windows, to move and merge tabs, and to open links in other windows and on other screens.
In order to make positioning really simple and fast, Monitor Master enables you to subdivide your screen(s) into regions. By clicking or dragging in a graphical control, you may select one or more regions as a target location. Alternatively, you may target a Firefox browser window by selecting a single screen region that overlaps with a depicted browser region. The two different kinds of targets (regions and windows) combine with the three different context menu's to enable six different actions (see Screenshot 1):
1) From the context menu of a toolbar, you may:
> a) Merge a browser window with some other browser window.
> b) Move a browser window to a different location.
2) From the context menu of a tab, you may:
> a) Move a tab to some other browser window.
> b) Create a new window from a tab at a specified location.
3) From the context menu of a link, you may:
> a) Open a link in a tab in any browser window.
> b) Open a link in a new window at a specified location.
Note that, in the graphical controls, blue indicates moving, red indicates closing and green indicates opening.
Several options are available through the Monitor Master toolbar panel. These options apply to Monitor Master functionality only!
The panel text was translated to the following languages: De, En, Fr, Nl, Pt, Sr and Zh.
Please note that your screens need to be configured as an extended desktop for Monitor Master to function correctly. Monitor Master identifies your screens when Firefox starts, when you click its toolbar button, and when your mouse enters a graphical control.
> Once you are used to Monitor Master, you may use the options to hide superfluous context menu items (Open Link in New Tab/Window and Move to New Window).
> Users of Private Tab probably want to check the option 'Allow merging of private and non-private tabs'. In other cases, this option has no effect.
> Users of AMD Eyefinity devices may use the region options to compensate bezels.
> In Australis versions, positioning during start-up may lead to toolbar layout errors. As a temporal fix, the delay for start-up positioning was already increased.
> When moving the window by clicking the toolbar button, the window border size is added to the window size.
> The snap-to-grid feature is incompatible with TileTabs and ThunderBird.
> In Thunderbird, moving and merging individual tabs does not work.
Please donate to enable the following improvements:
> Full support for the Australis menu panel.
> Full support for tabs in Thunderbird.
> Managing tabs group-wise.
> Multiple-screen full-screen windows which cover OS menu's.
A re-released version of Monitor Master, Screen Surfer, was discontinued because its user base was too small to justify its separate existence and maintenance. Instead, Monitor Master will be developed further.
Requests mean business
I do take feature requests seriously, but my time is limited. If you have a request and want me to move it to the top of the list for a given extension, please donate $50 and submit your request. If you want me to start working on it as soon as possible, donate $100. If you have an idea for a new extension which you would like to see implemented, consider donating $500 for a week's work until you're satisfied with the result.
