Simple, Clean, Effective Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I find that this small, unobtrusive add-on is perfect for my needs. After a day or so of using it, I have trained myself to glance at the small icon in the bottom right corner that indicates whether or not I have mail at least once or twice an hour, so I never miss anything, but it stays out of my way and requires nothing if I have no mail. No muss, no fuss. Thank you so much for this!

Well done! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does exactly what it's supposed to do. I can't give it any higher praise than that!

Flawless & a conscientious developer! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Just as I said in my title: I'm so impressed both by the quality of extension, ease of use, and features but also by how far the developer has gone with providing instructions and screenshots AND not only that but a personal response to almost every feature question that has been placed in a review. I have my own personal question: I have "show unread counter on toolbar button unchecked but I still see the number next to the status bar icon: I know that the toolbar button and the status bar icon are not the same thing and work somewhat differently but is there a way to turn it off in the status bar? (I have a large number of "unread" emails in my Inbox that are basically spam that I haven't taken the time to delete ;-) Maybe I've answered my own question! I just need to clean out my In box! But getting rid of the number would be great. Thanks for the awesome extension.

Thank you

Please use extension "organize status bar"
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1759/
This is a very useful extension. No only can hide status bar icon, but can rearrange the order of it.

Excellent tool for gmail.

Where can I can find the wav file used as the built in sound? I would like to use this sound for text messages on my phone if possible.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.21).

Thank you

For getting build in sound.
Please search in your hard drive for file "gmailwatcher.jar". This file is in a different location depend on windows, mac or linux.
After find that file, copy it to somewhere and rename the new copied file to "gmailwatcher.zip".
Then using zip utility to open it. You'll find "newmail.wav" inside that zip file.
This is a build-in sound file.
If you have problem, you can email me for request that file.

Simple, useful tool Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love the simplicity of this add-on. It doesn't get in my way when I'm working, but I can see at a glance if I have any new emails. I also like that it is so customizable.

Well I like the icon position, I don't want to waste toolbar space with notification icons. What I'd really want is support for multiple accounts.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.11).

Sorry guy.

When depending only on cookie without using username and password, it is impossible to get multiple account.

No Close for Prefs? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great, though I would like the check more often than 5 minutes, but that is super minor.

However, I do have an issue with the preference window. It provides a Feedback button and About button, but there is no close button. I have to restart Firefox just to get out of the prefs window. It's a testiment to the handiness of the add-on that I still use it, but this bug is nutty! :-) I am sure there must have been some issue with a Firefox upgrade or something...

Using Firefox 3.6.8...

Thank you.

- Checking more often than 5 minutes will support on version 1.11
- About the bug, I still don't seen it. It work well on 3.6.8 on my computer and no one report this to me except you. So, please contact me again by email, I want to know about the detail.of your computer environment, so I can check it out.

Update: Many report crash of many add-ons after update to Firefox 3.6.8. Please see at:

The icon needs to be put on the right top corner of the web browser. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

In my point of view, the icon should be put on the right top corner of the web browser because it gives more attraction to the users and I would love to have that function.
Anyways, thank you so much for writing this extension.

Thank you.

You can do it by... on firefox menu, select View--> Toolbar--> Customize...
Then drag and place the Gmailwatcher toolbar icon to anywhere you want.

I WANT the Number of Unread E-Mail in the toolbar button Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Why can't you put the number of unread e-mails in the toolbar button? You can put in the status bar: why not in the toolbar? Please MAKE THIS!!!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.10).

Thank you

I don't do it because dynamic toolbar or user-draw toolbar button cannot blink.

A nice addon considering that it has only client side code.

One Minute Please Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Can you add "one minute" for auto check. It is getting annoying to have flashing icon after I check email and wait for its 5 minute before it check again and finally stop flashing. I could easily turn off flashing option, but I prefer it with one minute.

Thanks

firefox 2.0, please? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

for various reasons I am still using Firefox 2.0 and although this extension works with it (I had to edit the min version), the tooltips and icons on the toolbar are not shown. If it's simple to fix it, could you do it? thanks.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.00).

Thank you

I haven't try to run on firefox 2.0
But there is one function that firefox 2.0 do not support.
The synchronization between multiple firefox windows (not multiple tabs)
But if you have change it and it still work, you're lucky :)

Pretty much perfect. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Only thing that I could think of to make it better is if you could replace the notification sound.

I'd be very grateful if that could be put into an eventual update.

This problem had been fixed in version 1.10.

Thanks for this much needed tool. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I truly love this simple add-on. It keeps me aware of new mail. I've had the more full featured email managers, but Gmail Watcher is the ticket for what I need. For anyone who misses the description, middle clicking checks mail. I didn't understand that at first, but it's important to know. Thanks for this much needed tool.
