DIGG TOOLBAR FOR FIREFOX PRIVACY POLICY

August 2008

This Digg Toolbar for Firefox Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how Digg Inc. (“Digg” or “we”) collects and uses information about users who have downloaded the Digg Toolbar for Firefox (“Digg Toolbar”). This Privacy Policy only applies to the Digg Toolbar; it does not apply to any Digg websites or any of Digg's other products or services. Changes to this Privacy Policy are discussed at the end of this document. Each time you use the Digg Toolbar, the current version of this Privacy Policy will apply.

Gathering, Use and Disclosure of Information

IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO SHARE THE INFORMATION DESCRIBED BELOW WITH DIGG OR THE PUBLIC, DO NOT INSTALL THE DIGG TOOLBAR.

What Data is Collected and How is this Data Used?

The Digg Toolbar for Firefox provides those who use it with a means of determining if the URL currently being viewed in the browser has already been submitted to Digg and, if it has, how many Diggs and comments it has received. When installed and enabled, the Digg Toolbar sends a hashed version of the URL currently being viewed as a request to the Digg API. Only those URLs that have already been submitted to Digg will return a response, with the Digg and comment counts for the URL currently being viewed. These responses are received by the Digg Toolbar and then displayed to the user. However, neither the websites you’ve visited nor your browsing history are stored by Digg or the Digg Toolbar. In addition, no personally identifying information, such as an IP address that can be directly associated with a specific person or entity (e.g., a name or telephone number), is stored. While a user of the Digg Toolbar may choose to enter a Digg username in the settings of the Digg Toolbar, this is only used to retrieve a list of that user's friends from Digg as well as their Diggs, comments, and submissions, all of which is publicly available on the Digg website.

How to Disable the Digg Toolbar

If at any time, you decide you no longer want to have the Digg Toolbar, you may un-install it.

Privacy Policy Changes

Digg may change the Privacy Policy from time to time. Any and all changes will be reflected on this page. You should periodically check this page for any changes to the current policy. Substantive changes will also be announced through the standard mechanisms through which Digg communicates with the Digg community. It is your responsibility to ensure that you understand the terms of this Privacy Policy.
