Version 3.0 Doesn't Focus In Search Field, But Version 2.1.1 Does Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Custom New Tab Version 3.0 doesn't focus in the Google search field for me, but version 2.1.1 is still working for me with Firefox 40.0.2. I have gone back to version 2.1.1 and turned its automatic update off.

Not focusing on URL bar anymore 8/14/15 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Same problem that others are mentioning, This add-on is great but is failing to focus on the url bar for new tabs with the update to FF40.
Will change review to 5 stars once this is fixed, add-on has been great until now.

Rcent update (8/11/15) does not work anymore in FF40 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Hello,

I been using your app for over a year with no problems until updateding Firefox to version 40. The tab does not open the site I enter in the box in the options. FF40 is blocking it from being changed somehow. It still however opens the correct previous URL that I had before FF40 & your app update. Now, regardless of what URL is entered in the options, it does not open the URL, regardless of any URL entered. I tried uninstalling your app and restarting FF and trying a new URL in the box in option, but it does not open in a new tan that URL I have set.

Hope this can be fixed,

Thanks!

Absolutly great!!!

Finally when you open a new tab the cursor is automatically in the search box of Google - as it should be!!!

One would think that there is actually no big thing for the developers of Firefox to fix this bug when opening a new tab, but since tens of versions absolutely nothing is done here.

And that is the reason, why this app is all the more valuable!!!

Many Thanks!

Thanks! The only thing I was missing using Firefox as a browser was the ability to instantly search without having to click anywhere else. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

Exactly what it says it does. Focus is in the search box on new tabs and windows.
Thank you.

This add on has relieved the mental anguish from trawling through endless web pages of people complaining about this issue, thank you! My only question is; it doesn't seem to work more than once. eg: when i click my firefox shortcut icon to open firefox the first time it works great, the cursor is in the google box. Then i click the shortcut again to open another window and the cursor is in the URL box again (also doesn't clear the second windows URL box). Is this something i am doing wrong?

A Bug!

It seems you've found a bug. In my opinion, it is annoying that the focus is not handled well when a new window is opened. However, fixing it is starting to expand CNT from "new tabs" into "new windows." It's complicated, especially considering the fact that Firefox gives the option to "open the tabs and windows from last time." If you're interested, there is a new version of CNT here: https://github.com/deadmund/Custom-New-Tab but I am still testing it so I'm holding off on automatic uptdates for now.

Cursor focus working! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's REALLY stupid that I have to use an extension to change the cursor focus when loading a new tab, but as I do this addon works perfectly!

Confrm URL focus Issue is fixed Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'd just like to confirm the cursor focus issue is now fixed, as stated by the developer. Cursor focus can now be properly controlled by selecting/deselecting the relevant box in options.

What Happened?! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I loved this Add-on, but now it simply will not retain the URL I enter as my CNT. What happened?!

Requested feature : blank urlbar (for a local file for example) Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hi,

Good addon, thanks for your work !

However, it would be great to add the ability to hide the url, so it would make the custom new tab page look like the standard about:newtab. I personnaly use a local file for the new tab, so seeing the url to my local file in the urlbar is useless.

Again, thank you for this addon.

Does not work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Even after adding this add-on (the only add-on I have for Firefox), the cursor still appears in the URL.

Bug Fixed

Tick and un-tick the "focus in the url" preference box in the add-on preferences. This bug is fixed in version 1.9.3

"Hahaha, I know this bug is frustrating, sorry about that! The "erase the user's new tab URL code" was in every version of the add-on, 1.9.1 and lower. Unfortunately, because the previous version installed on your machine was 1.9.1, I knew the bug was there, but had no way to stop it from activating when you updated to 1.9.2. It should never happen again now!"

You seem to know whereof you speak. I look forward to this 'never happening again'. Hey, at least I learned how to do a teeny tiny fix! Now, if I could only fix my tablet. Thanks, Ed.

This addon is great. I don´t know who the genius is, making all these changes to firefox, but addons like this one fix the stupid things that mozilla developers are doing.

One thing:
Everytime the addon is updated, the "new tab URL" is changed back to about:newtab. Which sends me to the speed dial, which I hate. I suggest it didn't.

Once the user has set their preference. It is annoying to have to set it back every time the addon is updated automatically.

This is a great little tool. Thank you.

EDIT:
Since I don't know how to reply. I'll just add something here.

Thank you for your reply. And thanks for creating this addon. After posting this I saw that other users had asked the same thing. Sorry for contributing to the noise. Cheers!
