HUGELY useful for such a small addon!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This has got to be one of my all time favorite addons of all time!! It's so simple yet does 2 things that make browsing infinitely more enjoyable! 1) fixes the cursor in urlbar for new tab problem 2) actually precaches the website you'd want to use for a new tab!! I have been looking for something to do this forever and finally this does!

Great! Works as described.
I fear every update of Firefox, because they often "improove" things that worked fine for a long time.

Thanks for doing what Firefox developers should have done. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The best thing is the option to set the cursor focus - bang on!

Thanks! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does exactly what it says. I love it.

Buen complemento Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Facil de configurar una nueva pestaña predeterminada y no como otros que prometen pero no llenan la expectativas!!!

Everytime I close firefox, the URL that I put as my custom page resets to the default and I get the default Firefox tiles.

Firefox 29 and Custon New Tab 1.8.1 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great on Firefox 29. Just make sure you don't have another about:config setting from Firefox 28.x conflict.

Great addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does exactly what I wanted (places focus on URL bar when creating a new tab)

Just what I need. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks. This add-on is the very thing I've been looking for.
I tried the " about:config" method, .... no go.
CNT solved the problem. Cheers, ... Den.

New version has issue with TabUtilities Rated 5 out of 5 stars

After upgrading to new version I am having serious issues with Tab Utilities, which were working perfectly together. The RELOAD button is not working anymore. Fix needed urgently. Other than that it's perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

When I open a link in new tab (didn't switch to that tab) and click that tab while it is loading the page then the URL bar gets focused after the page is fully loaded. On the other hand, when I click that tab after it is fully loaded, then the URL bar doesn't get focused.
I don't know if it is the intended behaviour, but I think, that URL bar should not get focused, when a loading tab is clicked.
Can you fix this please?

Still Loving Version 1.6.5 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This add-on is a great convenience and time saver. I run Firefox 26 in Bodhi Linux (Ubuntu derivative), on a laptop and on a desktop machine. The upgrade to CNT 1.7.1 broke the functionality for me on both machines. I could not get the cursor focus to be in the Google search box, regardless of what I checked or unchecked. I went back to version 1.6.5, and all is well! Thanks for creating this nifty tool.

One day later ----------
Hmmm --- today I booted up to find that I once again have version 1.7.1, and the cursor focus remains in the Google search box where I want it. I do not know how I got versions 1.7.1 back, or why it works fine now!! In any case, this is a great add-on, especially with the desired focus restored after a month of frustration.

Outstanding work. There is another add-on that allows for a URL to be opened when selecting a new tab. It is "Tab Mix Plus".

I request from the author that once the new tab is opened with the URL, that the URL/location bar be cleared. Or is there a way of doing this already?

Simple

In the preferences for CNT, erase the url (so it's blank), check the box for "place focus in url bar." If you have some URL and check the 'place focus in the url bar' then then URL will be highlighted and you can just start typing to replace what is there. Seems pointless to me to erase the URL for the user.

Works mostly great! The only problem when using focus to address bar on new tab function is that this plugin focuses to address bar even when the new tab is opened to background. (with ctrl + mouse click, etc.). Could you please add a feature to only focus on the address bar if the tab was opened to foreground?

Fixed

I was able to replicate this bug and I fixed it. Thanks for the input! Please comment again if it isn't fixed in version 1.8+

Thanks so much ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I used another add-on to have Bing or else in a new tab but the focus was ALWAYS on the adress bar and not in the search field, that was daily annoying. Yours does exactly what I want so big thanks ! :)

@Ed, please help. Is there a way to improve the extension so that it can *fully* disable the focus in the URL bar? It works fine at Firefox start up, but NOT when:
1. I open a new tab
2. I close the last tab without closing Firefox.
Since I am using Toolbar Autohide 6.3.1 (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fullscreen-toolbar-hover/?src=search) the damned cursor in the URL bar blocks the bar from being hidden as it should be.
Thanks for your attention.

Confused

I'm not sure I understand the nature of this bug. Firstly, you cannot close the last tab in Firefox (i.e. you cannot have Firefox open with 0 tabs).

I can't guarantee that the add-on will work perfectly with all other addons. Have you tried in my add-on unchecking the focus box (so the focus is moved to the content of the new web page). This may solve your problem.

Now I got it - exactly this thing I searched for. To specify a custom URL by opening a new tab. This Add- On does this and therefore thanks a lot to Ed!

Request improvement Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hi,

when I open a new tab, the URL bar is automatically selected and this is exactly what I want.

However, what I find a bit of annoying is the following:
When I click on a link with CTRL+Mouse to open it in a new tab (to read it later), the URL bar is automatically selected on the current tab. This is really annoying on Ebay, when you have multiple auction links and the cursor keeps jumping from the Ebay search field to the URL bar...

I hope you can improve your add-on in a way, the setting is only applied to a new tab and not to the active tab.

Regards

Bug Fixed

This bug should be fixed in the newest versions (1.8+)

As of July/2013 it works great & now I'm at Google whenever I open a new Tab.

Author should provide clear Instructions on how to make this work. Here is how I did it:

1. With Firefox open, click Tools
2. Click Add-Ons
3. Choose Extensions in left column
4. Choose the Custom Tab addon
5. Click on Options
6. type in URL you want to go to when a new Tab is opened.
