Brilliant add-on but problem with FF 53.0 Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I love this add-on. It's really quite brilliant. But today FF updated to version 53.0 on Mac and now when I want to view cookies (both for "this site" and "all sites"), I get a Parsing Error instead. Viewing the exceptions works fine. All the rest seems also to be working as usual. I thought I'd report it. :)This user has 2 previous reviews of this add-on.
very useful but... Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I´m using the monster since a few years and it was a great cookie control.
Unfortunately I haven´t found a way to safe and backup my cookie permissions.
But since some time it often doesn´t recognize the currently used tab (if more than one tab is open)
example: 2 tabs open - google.com and amazon.com - current tab is amazon.com - cookie monster thinks I´m on google.com only showing me options for google.com and it is not changable.
Cookie Whitelisting Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This add-on is another reason why I use Firefox over Chrome. This has the ability to block cookies globally by default when configured and only allow the ones you want with creating a whitelist of those you allow via a few clicks. This is just what I was looking for. Block cookies by default and allow them only for the sites that need them.
Not compatible with multiprocess Rated 1 out of 5 stars
UPDATE 2017-03-13: The add-on is broken in Firefox 53: click and "show cookies for x site" or "all sites" opens a window with an XML error instead of showing the list of cookies.
Could you please update your extension to make it compatible with multiprocess? It doesn't work well when you switch between different tabs.
Multiprocess was enabled by default months ago in the release channel.
Thank you, kind regards.
(I'll change my rating to 5 stars when you fix it).
Unable to Update at This TIme
Until the Web Extensions I need for Cookie Monster are available, I will not be able to make fully compatible with multi-process.
Best Cookie Manager ever! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
It has it all. manage cookies on an individual basis using 2nd level domains or fully qualified domains. Tony does a great job keeping this thing updated even for us Nightly users. Kudos!
Thank You Very Kindly
I appreciate the nice comments!
Problems with the latest update (18.104.22.168) Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I've used this add-on for a long time and, overall, really like it. I was also excited when I read the list of changes in this new version. However, when I tried this new version, I noticed a couple of problems:
(1) It doesn't seem to delete cookies, as promised, when you close all related tabs for a URL, or even when you close the browser entirely. To see this in action, go to addons.mozilla.org, then open CCleaner (or a similar product) to verify that the cookies are there. Then close the tab (or even Firefox entirely), return to CCleaner, and unfortunately, the cookies will still be there. And yes, before anyone asks, I had the correct option selected which should have made it happen.
(2) If you make the mistake of trying the new icons, your icons will be messed up from then on. First, for any website which is designated as using the default settings, the new icon (which shows an "A" character for some reason) will continue to appear if you switch back to the original icon set. And second, if you're using a (full) theme that's not the default, that same "A" icon will appear expanded to many times its normal size, which messes up the appearance of whatever toolbar it's on.
So, for now, I'm back on the previous version, which is unfortunate because the new-version changes looked good.
(1) I can understand why it would be wise not to delete cookies for sites designated as "Accept Cookies"; however, what about removing cookies for sites designated as "Accept Session Cookies"? Does it remove those?
(2) You should be able to reproduce the icon issue (at least the expanding icon part) by installing the "NASA Night Launch" theme. It would probably do the same thing with LavaFox V2. I've seen this same behavior with other add-ons, and most of them have been able to resolve the issue, although I don't know how. Of course, I have no way of knowing if you're interested in spending time trying to fix it, but I thought I'd give you the means to duplicate what's happening, just in case.
Upon Further Inspection
Thanks for the review. As for #1, this does work if the site does not have any cookie exceptions (permissions). However, if the site is set to "Accept Cookies", then the cookies will not be deleted upon tab or FF closure because the site has "Accept Cookies" permissions.
Regarding #2, I have only had a couple of reports of issues with the new icon set, but they work for me, both at home and work, and I am able to switch back and forth between icon sets without issue.

e10s ? Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I know mozilla changes too frequently and it's pain in the as* for dev to maintain their add-on. I empathize with you. I hope it will be compliant with future firefox release. I love it.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (126.96.36.199). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Isn't e10s compatible Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Overall good addon, but doesn't detect 3rd-party cookies with e10s enabled. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52).
Great Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Great addon very user-friendly, I'd like an option to delete local storage when Firefox starts up or exits.

Just Verified Temp Cookies are Deleted After Restart
I just verified in FF 47.0 on Windows 10 that temp cookies are deleted after a restart of FF. If you would like, please contact me via email to see if we can figure out what is happening with your instance.

I only used it view cookies. When a cookie changes while the cookie viewer is open, the values are updated. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (220.127.116.11).
My personal favorite Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Dead easy to use and lightweight. Best for my needs (using it for years now).
It would be great if it was possible to export cookie permission settings - the whitelist sites and domains.
awesome Rated 4 out of 5 stars
One of the very rare extensions I have been using for years. Never had a issue with the promised feature set. Only 4 stars because I miss one feature: whitelisting domains to "temporarily allow cookies". In other words, I want certain site to be able to use a cookie, but I want them deleted when the browser closes. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168).
Cookie Monster generates error messages about invalid hostname Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Cookie Monster has started generating an error message every time I close Firefox. "Invalid Hostname Entered. Please enter a valid hostname."
Others have the same problem with Cookie Monster - check Google using these quoted lines.
This just started happening.
I've been using CM for a few weeks as a sad effort to replace "Ask me every time", which Mozilla eliminated from Firefox in January. CM is not a sufficient replacement, but at least it's something. Now it is generating errors.
Things to Check
The issue more than likely stems from an invalid value of setting extensions.cookiemonster.tempcookie in about:config - and can fairly easily be remedied. Please contact me if you would like to resolve this and give Cookie Monster another chance.
Well maintained Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Every time the Firefox developers does something to break addons, including this one (which is dismayingly often lately), the maintainer of this addon has fixed it promptly.
I've tried other addons that are similar, and none have the full feature set I need.
Indispensible Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thank you for all the recent updates and for (finally) getting the addon signed so I can use it again without any worries. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (22.214.171.124).

Wonderful add-on, a real life-safer for those who care a bit about privacy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I came to use Firefox from Opera, which had a really nice cookie management system, where you could quickly whitelist sites you accepted cookies from. So a way to do the same in FF was something I really needed, and I found it in Cookie Monster.
I love that you can quickly right-click on the page to change the settings for a site, and that I can temporarily accept cookies from sites that refuse to work without cookies (silly web-devs!).
I also love that all cookies can quickly be deleted if a site is moved into the blacklist.
The only thing missing is the option to have CM on the Tools menu since I use the keyboard a lot when surfing so having the same options as the context menu there, like Adblock Plus does, would be a super bonus!
Now with the latest version that once again works in Firefox 45, I can once again say this is a must-have add-on.
