Thank you for the great addon! Too sad that Mozilla decided to turn Firefox into an "alternate Chrome". But maybe the current extensions may live in a decent "community" fork?Dieser Benutzer hat 3 ältere Bewertungen zu diesem Add-on.
Explication Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
First, I would like to thank you for the answer and understand the software limitation but I have installed the Status-4-Evar, who is helping, but the inclusion of the status bar make their most complete work. My previous suggestion has not been clarified, but I know we can customize the bars of Firefox and we can make it look like IE6, for example. My suggestion is to make them "default preset" and with the "reset to default" option. If you are within your limits, I will be waiting for this version.Dieser Benutzer hat eine ältere Bewertung zu diesem Add-on.
Essential addon Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
This addon is a must-have for Firefox.
The ability to customize Firefox is what makes Firefox great.

Love it. Very easy to use and modify.
Impossible to live without it Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
This is the first addon I always install on FFx.
I have a suggestion: Ads a dropdown indicator to access back and forward history.
There is a dropdown indicator to access back/forward history in CTR since the beginning. Go to customizing mode and move it to any toolbar.
Firefox + Windows 10 + Classic Theme Restorer = close buttion bug Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
When i change theme in Windows 10 ( example: Windows 8 skin theme from deviantart) Firefox CTR still have default Windows 10 button. This error is not in Windows 7 and 8.1 as well as Chrome / Opera.
Have you tried the settings in Toolbar (3) category? Third party OS themes on Windows 10 need additional tweaks sometimes.
FF is a decent browser, but the developers cannot leave good enough alone. Many of the newer changes have been for the worse, but this great add-on provides one with the ability to keep things the way they should be.
p.s. I use the (sadly, no longer supported) Noia Fox theme (one of the best ever made) and this add-on seems to work with it flawlessly.
V 126.96.36.199 affects my All-in-one-Sidebar Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
Sorry to say, but this great tool affects the size of my letters of my AIO-Sidebar text. It happened in the last week. They are bold and greater than normal. If i deactivate the CTR the letters are normal again.
I tried both addons with a fresh profile and could see it there too.
Thanks a lot for your solution, its a horror, if you have 10 addons and such a lot of preferences and adjustments - and if 1 point is wrong, how to find it.
Do you have a tip how to save the preferences of all addons: with FEBE, Opie, Mozbackup or another solution ?
And thanks once more for your help.
Which AIOS pages are affected by this?
If this is about the add-ons manager, you can disable its alternative appearance on CTRs prefwindow.
CTR prefs > Add-on manager > uncheck 'Alternative appearance'.
If this does not fix the issue, please post a report on CTRs support forum or send me an email. In both cases attach a screenshot of the issue.
V 1.5.8 affects my Addon page theme Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
V 1.5.8 affects my Addon page theme. V1.5.7 works fine.
Thank you for response. Beta version and following instructions below fixed my theme problems (Stylish Flat and Dark Addons Theme/Windows 7)
A fixed version will be released soon. You can install the current beta and uncheck styling of add-on page on CTRs prefwindow or visit about:config and set extensions.classicthemerestorer.alt_addonsm to false
What theme and OS are you using?

Sanity restored Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
The popularity of this add-on shows how much Mozilla have strayed from the ethos of browser customisation - the very fact that I need it to implement text-instead-of-icons and tabs-below, mystifyingly removed in later versions of FF, proves it.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (1.5.8) abgegeben.
"width" of the search box not working Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
as title says. as soon as i activate this in the latest betas, the search box with stretches the whole width of firefox, i can't even access the "next/previous" and the rest of the buttons.
great extension anyway.
thanks for your answer. :)
i found the culprit, it is a problem with another extension , findbar tweak.
i found following entry:
and i have no idea how that got there all of the sudden, i haven't opened the preferences of that extension for a long time.
i did set this now to 100 and CTR is working nicely. the findFieldWidth;100 has no effect now, strange. it crippled the search bar when it was 4000 and CTR settings had no effect, now it is the other way around.
Have you set a too large value for findboxes width?
Open CTRs preference window and uncheck "Toolbars (2) > Findbar > Findboxes width" or set a smaller value.
CTR does not change the width of the findbox, if that option is disalbed.
Alternatively set "extensions.classicthemerestorer.findb_widthcb" to false in about:cofig area.
Firefox has long been unusable without this add-on Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
This add-on is such a lifesaver, returning the original sane interface to Firefox that they've gradually been chipping away at over the years, making it more and more unusable. I'm so glad to see (thanks to Add-on Compatibility Reporter) that it's one of my add-ons that are compatible with the upcoming multiprocess change to Firefox. I'm terrified, though, what will happen when Mozilla removes the original XUL and XPCOM add-on APIs and forces add-on authors to use the new WebExtensions APIs instead. I don't see how a cross-browser extension platform could customize a browser's UI to the extent that Classic Theme Restorer currently does. (Would love to see any comments from Aris on this...)
I only have two issues with this near-perfect add-on. This first is that individual options are difficult to locate given the number of them and their not always intuitive organization (a search across all option submenus would be helpful). The second is that unticking the "HTML5 full screen warning" option doesn't work completely. It removes the warning when you first go to full-screen, but the irritating popup still comes up if you mouse to the top of the screen. It would be nice if this could be enhanced so that the warning is disabled across the board, like the Disable HTML5 Fullscreen Alert add-on does.
Anyhow, hope this add-on will live on without much or any functionality loss into the WebExtensions era, and thank you so much for your work to preserve the option of a non-wrongheaded UI.
Update replying to Aris' reply:
Thank you for the detailed response regarding XUL and XPCOM vs. WebExtensions... Damn, I was afraid of that, but was hoping native.js was going to provide a sufficient compatibility layer, since the author of NoScript expects it to solve the limitations of WebExtensions for him (I realize NoScript has much lesser requirements to hook into the browser UI).
Looks like Pale Moon or another Firefox fork will be my browser in the future. Unfortunately I see that many add-ons don't work correctly in Pale Moon, including Classic Theme Restorer (not nearly as necessary since Pale Moon was forked pre-Australis, but I would still use options like returning the traditional UI where there was one tab close button on the right side of the tab bar), Disable HTML5 Fullscreen Alert (no full-screen-api.warning.* about:config options as a workaround, either), Flash Control (though the moribund Flashblock still works for now), iMacros, up-to-date versions of Video DownloadHelper (with updates for websites that need it), and YouTube Video and Audio Downloader. :-( Apparently the Pale Moon developers are strongly considering reforking off of a more recent version of Firefox, though, which would be good for both add-on compatibility and web standards compliance.
I guess Firefox Extended Support Release will be an option in the short term after the change, but then it'll have XUL and XPCOM ripped out of it as well. I suppose going back to SeaMonkey would be one other option (though there haven't been any announcements confirming it will retain XUL and XPCOM that I'm aware of), but I see that FindBar Tweak, Flash Control and Flashblock, iMacros, Noise, QuickJava, Video DownloadHelper, and YouTube Video and Audio Downloader all do not currently work with SeaMonkey. :-(
Yeah, I have no recommendations for rearranging options; a textual search that locates options for you is the only good solution I can think of. OK, no problem -- will continue to use Disable HTML5 Fullscreen Alert for its more complete banishment of that irritation.
once XUL and XPCOM got removed (about 2nd half of 2017) there is no way this add-on will continue to work, nor will it be possible to port it to WebExtensions API. Mozilla is claiming they want to find a way to make Firefox more customizable through WebExtensions, but at the current point there is nothing in the WebExtension API that could even change a toolbar color or move a button/item. Their priority lies somewhere else.
No matter how many Firefox users dislike such a move and not matter how many users would probably stop using Firefox, nothing will stop Mozilla from actually doing that move like done in the past with Australis, full themes, removal of main features or addition of features nobody ever wanted or used (-> Firefox Hello, Pocket).
You can read more about WebExtensions here:
Basically every add-on, that modifies the browser ui, will stop working once XUL is no more. From my point of view renaming "Extensions/Add-ons" to "WEBextensions" already shows the direction add-ons are meant to go: web-only modifications. If you take a look at Google Chrome, you will see where this is going. The only modifications Chrome allows is changing toolbars and tabs main color through what they call "themes". As a former full theme developer of Noia 4 I can tell, calling "toolbar colors or images a theme" is disrespectful to every developer of real themes and a punch in the face to everyone who spent thousands of hours to keep a full theme compatible to every change Mozilla made.
Al least Vivaldi browser shows what can be done to a browser ui based on Chromium, sonce Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are a total black-out, when it comes to ui tweaks.
About locating different/new options on CTRs prewindow:
I know it sometimes is hard to find a specific option and I try to add most of them as close to their category meaning as possible, but sometimes they fit into multiple categories and I have to decide where an option goes. I'm open for suggestions, if someone can explain why one option fits more into another category.
The "HTML5 full screen warning" preference persist of two default browser preferences. CTR only offers a switch to modify both at once through CTRs preference window:
about:config > full-screen-api.warning.delay
about:config > full-screen-api.warning.timeout
CTR itself does not do anything to the warning ui. ;-)
It customizes nearly everything, ... Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
..., except the white color of the url address bar (FF48.0.2, MacOS 10.8.5). I'd like to have a black url bar with grey text. If C.T.R. could customize that, it would be perfect.Diese Bewertung wurde für eine vorherige Version des Add-ons (1.5.7) abgegeben. Dieser Benutzer hat eine ältere Bewertung zu diesem Add-on.
