Yet another trick of leading western companies
MyWOT has been secretly funded by leading western companies to eliminate existing and all future competition thus protecting their absolute market domination. When Internet was still free, large companies were losing profits to smaller and medium sized businesses. They came up with a plan. MyWOT was born. It sneaked its way onto about a million of computers (true stats) like a parasite, like a virus, fooling people with their free service, free plugin and whatnot. Now people can only visit their websites, purchase from their websites, because their websites are green by default. Those companies know what you're doing as well, what you like to visit, buy, watch and they will adapt to it, they will offer you stuff based on that data.
It's a ring of businessmen that finance these sort of services. They want to stay on top. Usually they start a free service, something everyone will accept, because it's free, then they manipulate public opinions, shift interests which drives money their way. It's what Facebook is anyway, it's a system of different services that are all connected together with sole goal of driving money into pockets of the true owners. They usually pick one guy to be the face, frontman of such service. Then they create a legend about them, example: "this one studied this and that or didn't, had an idea, it was hard to realize such idea, he was very determent and persistent, so he made it, etc.". They pick such people that look plain and simple so that common people can think that's achievable for them as well and dream about those goals. Stories are constructed in a careful manner so they get accepted by the majority of people. But it's always a story of struggle, hope, determination and success after many years of trying. It's, of course, all fake, but people don't know that. It's the ring of deception, advertisement, brainwashing, etc. Services like Twitter, WOT, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. are all a part of this system, the system supports them, system created them. Of course, none of the common people will ever walk the same path as those chosen ones, but will dream and waste time and money trying to achieve similar goals, because they were made to appear achievable by the parasites on top of the pyramid, the masters of illusion.
The reason why they declared Internet open and free is for it to enter into every home and business so that it would have a bigger impact when they take it over. Internet was actually never truly free and open and all free services are actually funded by people who control finances as those free services are advertised with huge budgets. It's an illusion of free and freedom, a deception.
WOT ratings are based on opinions of WOT users which are not experts in security, hacking and scams, it's just their personal opinion. Even though WOT is advertised as security service on Facebook, it's not going to protect you against phishing, credit card frauds, malwares, viruses, adwares nor spywares, it's simply completely useless. You just need to be smart enough to realize that WOT advertisements are a bunch of lies and deceptions like any other advertisement.
Not based on web threat Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen
I have used this for over a year, until I realized that websites my be blocked based on political bias. I want to avoid virus/popups etc., not have someone else censor what I can or cannot read.
Great Collaboration Add-on Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
The Web of Trust is one of the most downloaded add-ons on the marketplace, and for a good reason too. It compliments Firefox and makes those pesky, suspicious websites apparent to new users. The fact that the WOT detects all these sites through a collaborative effect is nothing short of amazing. My favorite part of the add-on is how simple it is to use. For example, green for good, red for bad, and yellow as a warning to be cautious. The simplicity of the design makes the add-on universal and easy to use for any age group, which is huge.
The only improvement I would like to see the author improve on is showing more details in the information description box when you hover over a link. I feel that when checking multiple sources, it may be tedious to open multiple links in order to find out how safe or credible a link is on the web. Other than my suggestion, the add-on is a simply must add!

The idea of an addon giving information about a site vinvolving also the users seem attractive. However I always had some doubts about the classification of sites of excellent or not, after the post of EVE1988 I also have some doubts on the effective utility.

Web of Trust is an excellent addon for your web browser, which helps protect you from dangerous websites. You can help make the service better by creating an account at mywot.com and participating in the ratings process.
The new version takes a bit to get used to though.

Bewertet mit 1 von 5 Sternen
Please address the WOT community
This review is not specifically about the WOT add-on and instead should be brought to the WOT community for help.
As per standard practice, we ask that you address this in the reputation discussion forums where this can be looked into by the wider WOT community. For your convenience you can address this in the Russian language reputation discussion forum: https://www.mywot.com/en/forum/7

I recommend this add-on Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen
I install this add-on for every computer that I use. I also recommend it to others who aren't as computer savvy. Funny thing is that I feel more safe using this than a "professional" for-profit solution like McAfee or Norton. With this, you have normal people explaining things in normal words. If they don't feel safe, they explain why. The best thing is the fact it prevents accidentally going into a website that has a bad rating. THIS feature alone can help so many
Removal of one star is because of the scorecard layout is cluttered and sometimes overwhelming. The little mini scorecard that hovers over links on search engines is perfect though, I only dislike the full webpage scorecard.
Imminent visual overhaul of scorecard
Thanks for your review - your feedback means a lot to us. We wanted to draw your attention to the new scorecard layout that's being released VERY soon. You can check it out on our blog:

Very Good, Indeed Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
I have used WOT for some time, and have full trust in it.
As to the person saying about visited URL's being sent, I'm sorry to say this, but everything, including the browser itself, anonymously sends that out. They use the information, mainly, to improve their product and service. Nothing online, is ever 100% private, anyway, so if you'd rather trade security for privacy (in your head) then by all means, do so, but there's no reason to say this addon is untrustworthy, due to your own ignorance about the internet.
WOT: Your last update may have caused a "could not be verified for use in Firefox" certificate issue. May want to check into that. :)
Perfect for researchers Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen
This addon has made me think twice before clicking through to sites that I otherwise would have blindly charged into. As a student and researcher of all things music and marketing, I find myself on new sites several every times a week, and a percentage of them are not safe. The WOT addon and community have provided some excellent guidance and tips to keep me off spammy sites and malware from my computer.
The add-on sends the URL of every website visited to WOT servers. For reasons explained in my previous review (which was deleted by the Mozilla editorial staff without consulting me) several users have reported visited URL information being used nefariously.
Note to Mozilla editorial staff: I am not reporting a bug, nor am I spamming. Users should be aware that their web surfing may not remain private when using WOT.
No news here
Dear users, this is nothing new. It's how security add-ons work: the add-on's servers detect which sites are safe and warn the user when a site isn't safe. Otherwise add-ons would merely be decorations on your browser :)
Useful as this addon is, I can't believe there isn't a version that can work with Firefox for Android. Considering that mobile browsing is very popular now.
On the way
Thanks for the suggestion, we've caught on to the trend and a mobile app is in the pipeline. It should be in your hands shortly.
