How about having an icon for the saved websites....Is that too much to ask? Otherwise, this program does what it's supposed to.

FF36Fix + Missing Menu Entry Fix (German only) + File Extension Fix Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

Great! c00per's fix/hack for Firefox 36 (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/abduction/reviews/684774/) – posted first by Ben (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/abduction/reviews/682266/) also worked for me!

I use Firefox 36.0.1 with OS X 10.8.5. I used the OS X integrated compress/decompress functionality for ZIP files in the Finder to apply the fix (and BBEdit). Simply rename {b0e1b4a6-2c6f-4e99-94f2-8e625d7ae255}.xpi to {b0e1b4a6-2c6f-4e99-94f2-8e625d7ae255}.zip to uncompress, then edit the content (browser.js) and compress and rename again (the content if the folder, not the folder itself, as c00per mentioned).

The xpi file from spellbound (thanks!) did also work, but the german context menu fix was missing there (the entry "Save Page As Image" does not appear due to a wrong entry in the language file – only in german!).

If you also have this problem (should only happen in german language), you find the fix here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/abduction/reviews/599210/

But then I still had the following problem:
When saving images, the filename extension "png" (or "jpg") was not added automatically in the file dialog (OS X 10.8.5). With version 3.0.16 of the Add-On, this did not happen ... so I checked the code of browser.js and found a fix.

I had to replace the line:
picker.defaultString = filename + '.' + picker.defaultExtension;
with:
picker.defaultString = filename + '.' + file_types[0].extension;

Hope that helps!
Patrick

Fix/hack for "[Exception... "Not enough arguments" error in .../browser.js in Windows XP Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

See c00per's review below. His/her Fix/hack worked for me. You must be careful to extract and compress the correct items as per instructions given there.

For Windows XP navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions
and follow c00per's instructions.

Thanks, c00per!

Fix/hack for the saveURI() error Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

I posted a link to modified XPI, but for some reason it was deleted. So I will try to explain in simple steps how to apply Ben's patch to XPI file.

1. Browse to the location of XPI file - in Vista/W7/W8 it's in C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions\
2. Open {b0e1b4a6-2c6f-4e99-94f2-8e625d7ae255}.xpi with some archiver (i.e. 7-Zip) and extract to folder.
3. Browse to chrome/content and open browser.js with Notepad or Wordpad.
4. Find and replace the line
persist.saveURI(source, null, null, null, null, picker.file, privacyContext);
with
persist.saveURI(source, null, null, io.REFERRER_POLICY_UNSAFE_URL, null, null, picker.file, privacyContext);
5. Compress contents of the folder (not the folder itself!) to zip archive and rename zip extension to xpi.

Btw, Mozilla, it would be nice to have some kind of comment/support section so that we don't have to post stuff like this in reviews.

Everything is great when I use Waterfox 28 but when I use Cyberfox 36 I now get this.

[Exception... "Not enough arguments [nsIWebBrowserPersist.saveURI]" nsresult: "0x80570001 (NS_ERROR_XPC_NOT_ENOUGH_ARGS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://abduction/content/browser.js :: abduction/action_save :: line 847" data: no]

I am able to select all and copy or rclick on a frame and save.

Please share a fixed XPI-version Bewertet mit 4 von 5 Sternen

It's the best screen capture tool so far, but it's also quite depressing, that it absolutely doesn't work anymore since FF 36.0. And it seems, the official development of this Add-On has stopped.

Since I can't use the second last version of this Plugin anymore, is there anybody who can share or mail to me (addon4juhut@yahoo.com) a fixed XPI-file? There are a few reviews showing some fixes, but I can't succeed a working fix of this Add-On by myself. Please help/share. Thanks!

Ben - Thanks Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternen

Ben, thanks for the patch. But could you instruct us, in layman's terms, on how to use/apply the patch? I need this extension. It is the only one I've found that lets us scroll down in order for the screen capture to extend below the visible screen.

Besides fireshot this is the best add on.

But in the the version of Abduction! 3.5.0 is no entry "Save Page As Image..." in the context menu with firefox

For all who miss the "Save page as image" entry in the context menu:

many thanks to John Doe

https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/abduction/reviews/599210/

the second step works great to change the original xpi-file

quote by JohnDoe:
"2)
lookup the file extension (*. xpi) in the ~ / .mozilla / firefox / <profile> / extensions / (it is just a zip file) and edit the file "/ chrome / locale / en / abduction.dtd" replacing "screen grave" with "abduction" in the obvious line ..."

But now in the newer Firefox , there is another problem:

[Exception... "Not enough arguments [nsIWebBrowserPersist.saveURI]" nsresult: "0x80570001 (NS_ERROR_XPC_NOT_ENOUGH_ARGS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://abduction/content/browser.js :: abduction/action_save :: line 847" data: no]

many thanks to ben.

it works with Firefox 36.0

look at the contribution of ben from March 2, 2015

It works for me, do with it as you will...

Hello!
Abduction! 3.5.0 I ceased to work after the FireFox Developer Edition 37.0a2 (2015-02-16) updating.
Issues the message:

What to do how to solve a problem?
Thanks!

Good plugin, but stopped working for me with version 3.5 Bewertet mit 3 von 5 Sternen

I have used this plugin for a long time. But now, needing it for the first time in quite a while, I found that the "Save page as image ..." option disappeared from the context menu in Debian's iceweasel 31.4.0 (German language). As (hopefully temporary) workaround I downgraded to 3.0.18 as has been recommended in an older rating post below.
